Why? He's barely average. Bounced around to 5 teams in 6 years

Yeah we need more of an attitude but he's terrible. Brain dead when it comes to giving up big plays.

Tony was far superior in every way too bad we had to let him go to the giant pay day.
I disagree. He's better than you think IMO.

I do think Tony was better in his own way though but not how Baltimore is currently using him. DJ is a beast. Just dont make him guard a fast TE one on one and we will be fine. Let him come up and smash someone.

That is a talent issue, not coaching
Whole D-line has has a pff grade of above 70
Linebackers were ranked pretty good, of course now they have CJ Mosley and the secondary is very talented.
Lol then why was he fired?

You have a right to your opinion.

Three overriding concerns when adding a NT

1. The proverbial non-stop motor? Does he have it?

2. Is he rock-hard or flabby?

3. Is he massive enough to man-handle the inside run?

We don't need midgets, we don't need fatties and we don't need guys walking around gasping in the 4Q. We do need a big, aggressive, relentless presence inside. If the right guy is available at the right cost, we could use one of those.

Tony Jefferson is fundamentally more sound. He is athletically probably even worse than Swearinger, who isn't very athletic himself by NFL DB standards. But Jefferson plays with superior technique paired with great instincts, which allows him to cover TEs. Swearinger is more about instincts, but he doesn't have the discipline or technique to cover anybody. He will also miss some tackles or hits because of being too aggressive, while you hardly ever see Tony Jefferson whiff. In the end, they aren't very far apart and ultimately play different roles now. Swearinger being cut by the Skins worked out perfectly for us. I'm glad for Tony that he got his well deserved payday though. Keim should've signed him to a cheap multi year contract after his 1st or 2nd season. What Keim did though was forcing Tony to play 4 years for peanuts. He was a pivotal piece of our defense and wouldn't have broken the bank if extended earlier.

Fake news! Swearinger will be the FS and a darn good one in this defense. Were you not a Cardinals fan when he was here just a couple years ago???

What's fake news? I know that Swearinger will be a good player for us. I didn't even say he is worse than Jefferson. Just that Jefferson is technically more sound, more disciplined, probably because he has to make up for lack of athleticism. Swearinger will go more frequently for the big hit rather than sure tackle, which isn't always bad but has hurt us in the past anyway. Him and Jefferson are similar in some areas, and different in others. I'm glad for Jefferson because he deserved it after some financially dire years, and I'm also glad that we got Swearinger gifted by the Redskins on a fairly reasonable deal.

A buddy of mine’s dad was a high school teacher and football coach( not the head coach) of Lawrence’s in North Carolina.

Said he’s a great kid.

Wake Forest. My dad's hometown in NC. They've been the NC powerhouse over the past few years. Sleepy little town outside of Raleigh. Love that place.
