The Difference Between School Lunch in France and in the U.S.

No, this isn't a joke ... though it is sadly funny.

Today, I came across the following menu:

Cucumbers with garlic and fine herbs

Basque chicken thigh with herbs

Red and green bell peppers and olive oil

Couscous

Organic yogurt

Apple

In most parts of the US, that would be described as a gourmet, or near-gourmet meal. In France, it's called government-sponsored school lunch

Here is a link to a company in the Bay Area that has been growing. They are able to provide healthy, nutritious meals at a cost comparable to the unhealthy junk. Also, I think Whole Foods has just started partnering so hopefully they will continue to grow.

Our school lunch is okay, but it is delivered in styrofoam containers every single day. I hate that.
