It told me all I needed to know about how important Carson, and to a lesser degree Drew was to this teams hopes. Once it became apparent that we'd have to ride Lindley's sorry butt, we became a shell of our former self. I've never been made more aware of how much chemistry in the locker room is affected by the perception of the QB. We are a case study in why teams like GB NE, and Sea win. Besides good talent, they believe that they can win any game going in. It's a poisonous effect that I pray doesn't infect us next year. I can't hide my disappointment with the way this turned out,

Each game we played without Palmer, I saw progressively less intensity from the defense, with each horrible throw from Lindley, the defense got that much more deflated.

I'm proud of this defense, Having Lindley as your QB would have sucked the life out of even the 85 Bears defense.

Last week you could see it easily. Once the defense realized the offense was incapable of overcoming a more than 2 TD deficit they flat out gave up.

SoCal, even with Drew there was a slight drop. I absolutely loved the teams attitude with Carson. The team that went into Dallas and smashed the Cowboys was a team I thought no one wanted a piece of.

between lindley being inept and butler punting it 25 yards a pop, the d really had their work cut out for them.

i didn't excuse them in SF or in the Seattle game because they really, really shat the bed in those games, but in this one there was absolutely no help between field position or really, really costly turnovers in the absolute wrong spot.

Agreed D, What makes it bad is that a competent punter and things could have been different. Any team in the league will benefit from an average starting field position in your end. Makes no sense!

And this after BA told him just before he went on the field to not throw it over the middle if they were in a zone.

And what does he do?

Didn't read the D because he is incapable of recognizing a zone and throws right down the middle on the first play.

I agree that the D gave up on the season. I can understand why, and commiserate with them, but I can't forgive them for it.

Let us NOT claim the defense wasn't atrocious for large stretches of the playoff game, and let us NOT claim it was all the offense and special teams' fault. ALL THREE facets of the game failed us last night. I was screaming at how soft our defense was for most of the game--and yes, from beginning to end. We had two great individual plays, which hooked us up with a TD and should have hooked our inept offense up with another. This doesn't mean that they weren't running on us at will many times, and that we didn't wilt like sissies many times too. This defense gets no slack from me for that game, just like the offense and special teams won't.

The score should have been so out of reach even before the turn overs that gave life to the cards. Every time newton threw the ball to a receiver, they were always wide open. He over threw a lot and if he was on target more, the score would have been way out of reach. The d just didn't show up again for the 3rd straight game. Could it be that when Stanton went down, so did the d? Maybe, but you think they would want to win no matter who was behind center. They just looked like they didn't care and we're happy to call it quits and end the season.

I just hope we can have both the o and d killing it next year. I just want one year for the cards to be just a dominate team. Can we just get at least one!

It gets lost how bad Cam Newton was yesterday. He was brutal but it didn't matter cause the D got owned by their OL and running backs. Ryan Lindley could've been their QB and he would've needed to do was throw a screen pass that went for 50.
