This is a good post although the previous post was a bit over the top, an exaggeration, which most of us are guilty of doing once in awhile.

I do not understand those who hate on Nash, even if he wears a Lakers uniform, because he wanted to continue his career with the Suns. The Suns did not provide him this opportunity, the Lakers did. As I recall, Lon Babby went on and on about he wanted Nash to retire a Sun. This turned out to be all gibberish. Nash was pushed out the door. He received a 3 year 27 million dollar deal from the Lakers and still be near the Valley. How many posters would turn down that type of money? But yet they are so righteous in their hate. I understand why Nash wears a Lakers uniform and not a Suns uniform. I guess the haters would also like to send the 4 draft picks and 3 million dollars back to the Lakers as it is tainted. There is much hypocrisy by some posters.

I guess we're going to have to agree to disagree, but Nash was in no way "pushed out the door" and there is nothing to suggest Babby wasn't being honest in his wanting Nash to retire a Sun. The difference is they weren't going to pay Nash anywhere near what he got. If he had been willing to finish out his career being paid minimum for example, do you really believe the Suns would not have brought him back? If he had retired and wanted a front office/coaching position, do you really think the Suns wouldn't have made that work?

He wanted a payday and that is understandable and there is nothing wrong with that. He got it. He picked the lakers over other teams likely because he thought they were putting together a team that would give him a chance at a title. That's fine too. But, no matter his reasons, he went elsewhere and he picked one of the most hated teams by Suns fans. It was his decision and therefore I can never root for him, nor will I feel bad for enjoying his and that teams suffering the past few seasons.

Your first paragraph says it all.

So...you like his last post where he called people pathetic, petty and told them to get a life while then yourself calling us righteous and hypocrites?

Good work continuing to try and inflame the conversation even though the other side has never said ONE negative thing towards you or Hoover.

I love the picks we got...just as much as I love Nash being a disaster for that team.

I wanna puke reading this garbage. Suns fans being called pathetic, petty, hypocrites that should die... because they are enjoying the Laker's and Steve Nash demise. This is a joke, people taking it personal and attacking other posters... because of what? Us not liking that a beloved player went to sleep with the enemy?

There is some serious hypocrisy here but its not from Cheesebeef's end.

Don't let the puke get on you. Seriously, I didn't think HooverDam was getting a fair shake when he tried to explain his position further in his second post. I don't like posters ganging up against other posters without a fair shake.

I think there is a fine line between not wishing a player to be successful on another team and actually reveling in the fact that they are struggling through one injury after another as their career is abruptly coming to an end. Especially if that player didn't ask to leave but rather was willfully let go, and ended up choosing a destination that actually suited both his and the Suns needs.

And as far as staying fur much less money (minimum? was that a joke?), assuming that was even an option with the Suns pursuing Dragic on day one, let us not forget that if Nash did that earlier in his career with Dallas then we wouldn't be having this conversation as Nash would be going into the hall of fame in a Mavericks jersey with the Suns only claim to him as the team that drafted him then let him go.

Not getting a fair shake? In his 2nd post he said those who disagree are petty, pathetic and need to get a life... If you're going to rip into a bunch of posters then dont be surprised when they react.

I understand the view of "I don't see why anyone would get worked up about Nash being Laker, its only sports"... I get that argument. But to follow it with an insult filled, hypocritical tirade that makes it clear just how personally Hoover is taking this... Its ridiculous.

Let's drop it. I still like Steve Nash even if he is in a Lakers uniform. I'll leave it there. Those who don't have the right to do so.

Right or wrong, it's also human nature. You follow athletes and for many people they start to become a real person in your life. You start to care about them and when someone else trashes them, it feels personal. It shouldn't but it does. What do you do if someone starts talking bad about your sister? Do you smile and say, well, everyone has a right to their opinion or do you react? Everyone is different but I don't understand why anyone would be all this shocked by the responses. I don't pay close enough attention to forum ethics to know if these comments cross the line but they're pretty common responses in the real world. When we put our fan hats on, we tend to lose a few IQ points.

I thought his comments were negative enough as they were, I'm surprised you felt the need to exaggerate them.

Stay classy as usual cheesebeef. I did not call you any names. Maybe you should reread my posts lest you have forgotten already.

What you describe, to me, this is the type of person that needs to get a life. Being insulted by criticism of a fictitious friend isn't human nature in my book. It's just plain odd IMO. It's in no way comparable to someone insulting my sister, a family member, someone I actually know and love and have a relationship with.

Your comment to my earlier post that attempted to wrap up my words to equate them to "I hate the Lakers, therefore I hate all those who play for them" isn't correct, nor was it what I said. I do not hate anyone that plays for the Lakers. What I said was that I was a Suns fan and therefore I don't root for anyone who doesn't wear their jersey. I am not invested enough in my entertainment to get that emotional about these people.

Anyway, my comments were only made because I thought it was silly to take others comments personal when it came to Nash (or any sports figure.) That is why I said I don't understand fans that follow individuals from team to team.

you defend Hoover who tells a large group of us to go curl up and die...then you yourself call us hypocrites and self-righteous while defending a second apology by Hoover which calls us petty, pathetic and to go get a life and I'm the classless one here? even though i've never made ONE personal comment towards you or Hoover? lol...okay Mainstreet.

I didn't say that's what he said...I said if someone said the comments i wrote (which are essentially the same thing, with one a tad bit more colorful) I would hope Mainstreet wouldn't be offended.

Below is the last post by HooverDam in this thread, at least so far. I tend to forgive and forget. HooverDam is a good poster. Why try to drag him down further. He was speaking from his heart and got carried away. He tried to clarify things further in his last post.

My comment was hyperbole, and not meant seriously, sorry if anyone took offense.

But really if you hate Nash, you really do need to get a life. He was one of the great Suns of all time, who cares if he's a Laker now? Lots of great players finish out their careers with other teams, sometimes rival teams. It's not college sports where the rivalries mean a lot more and have political, social and historical reasons you wouldn't cross a line. Its the NBA, guys change teams all the damned time, get over it.

If you're going to hate Nash because he spent a couple of injury plagued non productive years in a Laker jersey, I really feel bad for you. It just seems petty and pathetic. Enjoy the memories of Nash with the Suns, him rehabbing in Staples Center does't effect those memories one way or another.

I didn't call anyone directly hypocrites and self-righteous. It was left open to interpretation by the reader. Maybe you should use quotes next time in trying to make your argument against a poster and not try to bundle things together to enhance your argument.

It wouldn't hit me that way either but I've certainly seen it many times in my life. As I said, most of us lose a few IQ points when we don our fan hats.

Sorry about that. I didn't intentionally misrepresent your position. I guess I summed it up that way because it roughly echoes my sentiments and it seemed to be the gist of your message. I say roughly because I don't really "hate" any team or any player, not in the true sense of the word. I don't really understand the player worship that some fans engage in but each to their own. I'm fine just following my team. I'm invested in my sports entertainment but I have no problem putting it into my own version of perspective.

What the hell is the problem.

1. Suns told Nash they plan the future without him.
2. Nash would have stayed in Phoenix had they wanted him to.
3. Nash and Suns work together to find a deal that is good for all sides:
a) Suns got value for him
b) Nash stayed near his kids
c) Nash went to a team where he could chase a ring if things worked out

4. It did not work out, he barely played for the Lakers, there are no memories attached to Nash and the Lakers other than that we fleeced them in the sign and trade.

5. He got a restraining order against his wife to move the kids to LA. I don't see how that contradicts the argument that he wanted to stay close to his kids. He just does not want his children to grow up in LA. I guess he is not the only person who thinks that way.
Also if I remember right Steve's parents live in Phoenix.

6. About the videos, Nash is producing those kind of videos together with Baron Davis for years. He does not have to play for the Lakers or live in LA to do that.

Its not that Nash is gone or how he left that makes people not have any pity for the horrible season he is having. Its that he is a Laker. Period. Many Suns fans, myself included have two favorite teams... the Suns and whoever the Lakers are playing. Seeing the Lakers suck balls with Nash... I cant help but grin, especially after the massive circle jerk their fans did after landing Dwight and Steve. So... again, I dont hate Steve Nash the person, once he is not a Laker I will be fine with him having success... I just hate his team and take much joy in their suffering, and his suffering for having made a deal with the devil.

Its like if you had some great girlfriend, things were fantastic for a long time, maybe the best relationship you had... but over the years you started to drift apart, the romance was gone and you both knew it was time to part ways, you were fine with that and you accept it. But wait... whats this? She's now banging Ace, that ******* co-worker who's screwed half the office, comes from a rich family, gets preferential treatment from the boss and always seems to get promoted over you? Screw her, screw Ace. Hopefully they make each other miserable.

Thats how I feel about Steve Nash being on the Lakers. When Steve Nash breaks up with Ace maybe we can be friends again, hand out, reminisce... but while Steve is banging Ace he is dead to me.
