My teenage daughter, who loves this book, thinks this will be the biggest hit of the summer. She has already seen it. Being my age, I think we have seen the basics of the plot many times in other movies. So, I don't think older people are very interested in it.

My daughter thinks it will be as big as Divergent and Hunger Games. I told her I doubted it, which pissed her off. We'll see.

I have no clue about this movie but from the previews on tv it looks like a walk to remember and the notebook. I'd prob bet my savings she dies in the end just seems so easy to predict. But this isn't geared towards my demo its for teen girls and moms.

Did you tell her there is a 250 million dollar difference between Divergent and Hunger Games? This will definitely be one of the most profitable hits of the summer, but likely tops out around the bottom of the top ten box office totals of the summer.

I'll just take a stab based off the picture. The girl who has the pipes in her nose ends up beating cancer and the healthy looking boy relapses and dies.

My daughter is dying to see this - I am on the fence as it doesnt seem like its for a 12 year old even though this is what 12 year olds want to see.

I saw in a preview shes in her underwear making out with the boy - I'm going to hate the next 6 years of parenting!

I read the book last night & am going to see it with my (almost) 15-year-old tonight. The book was pretty good. My only complaint in it is that both of the main characters used vocabulary far beyond their years...there were at least a half a dozen words I had to look up, and I have an above average vocabulary. She's supposed to be an avid reader, but even still, it just wasn't believable. She's 15 in the book--and 15-year-olds (no matter how much they read) just don't speak like her.

I can't speak for the movie, but in the book that part was VERY short and not graphic in almost any way. It was more of an "understood" of what was happening, not really described at all. I hope they keep to that because it was covered well, imo, in the book.

LOL.

No, she doesn't follow box office totals. To her, a "blockbuster" means all of her friends are talking about it.

Yeah, I saw on Box Office Mojo it's doing really well. I will be honest, I didn't think it would even be a top ten movie of the summer.

Yeah, good luck with that.

I have three daughters, two are teenagers. I don't have a boy, so I can't compare directly. But, I will admit that all the people who said to me "Boys are easier when they are teenagers" to me look to be right.

it probably won't. if fell off a cliff from Friday to Saturday. Will probably top out around 120 million...which would still make it a monster hit for a 12 million dollar film. But you're right...it's already behind X-men, Spidey, Godzilla, Maleficent and Neighbors and won't catch those and there's still Dragon 2, Tranformers, 22 Jump Street, Dawn of Planet of the Apes...although everything else, who knows. It might squeak in there in the top 10. It's not a great summer movie season.

I bought all of John Green's books for my 7th grade girls at my school and they read through them over and over again. This one was their overwhelming favorite of the books. I think 70% of my 7th grade girls (and a few of the boys) read at least one of his books, quite a few read all of them. I was just happy to see them reading with enthusiasm.

I haven't seen the movie and probably won't since my girlfriend went and saw it with her mom (they both cried).

The books author and his brother Hank are both youtube celebrities and do a lot of good work in the areas of education in Science, Literature and history. His brother does the science stuff, he does the history and literature.

I always show my students John Green's Crash Course US History videos. Helps me introduce or review overall topics. They are graphical and entertaining.

As the father of 2 daughters this appears to right to me also. ;)

Really?

Both movies you've mentioned are rated PG-13.

How old is your daughter's friend?

They are both 12.

Rated PG-13 | For thematic elements, some sexuality and brief strong language

Rated PG-13 | For Intense Sci-Fi Violence, Intense Sci-Fi Action, Language, Nudity and Some Suggestive Material

Nudity? lol, like a shirtless man? What kind of nudity would be in xmen?

For some reason the director included a prolonged and gratuitous shot of Jackmans ass after he woke up in bed naked...

And there is an F bomb in Xmen too! lol So the joke is on her parents in this case. lol

Someones rear end is less of a concern as a parent than a girl in her underwear, straddling her boyfriend making out with him.

If they read the book, the movie doesn't show anything they didn't already "see" in their heads, but I do feel the movie showed more than was necessary. (She takes her bra off while on him, but the shot is from behind).

The movie was ok. I'm convinced if I hadn't read the book, the movie wouldn't have been as good. So much of the girl's thoughts are lost in the translation from book to movie, that I have a hard time believing anyone would enjoy it as much. Hard to tell for sure since I have read it.

Just recently watched it. Solid acting by the kids, but I especially liked Laura Dern's performance.
