EVERYONE is very angry about the D-WASH fiasco and rightly so. Maybe I've gotten too old but was it all that long ago that a man's word was his bond? You said...you did...or at least did your darndest to try and keep your promise. I don't see any reason/or way the f/o should be responsible for baby-sitting "grown adults." D-wash's actions didn't match his words.

But, here's the thing. "Football" is about as fragile and an unreliable thing that I know of.

IF, let's say, D-WASH had torn his ACL, we'd be in pretty much the same boat as we are now. Different circumstances...same result.

I know BASK was dealt a "tough" card on this one BUT I still have faith that they will re-group and come up with some kind of answer. At least, they have some time to make a good attempt at it.

LIFE demands perseverance...Football does, too.

TRUSTING BASK! :)

ALWAYS ENJOY YOUR INSIGHTFUL "posts", Mitch.

Great post.

You cannot put value in what people say anymore. In this world, liars, cheaters, and stealers are the ones with power and success. People aren't stupid and see this and thus to compete act accordingly. It has gone on for so long that it isnow "accepted".

I'm wrong? Look no further then congress and wall street for proof I am right.

As for baby sitting adults? Yeah, that is a new concept that has leaked into society as well. It is two fold. First it creates people who feel and take no responsibilty for thier actions, and second itopens the door for your workplace and government to tell you what to do inpublic, at work and in your home.

Both are new things in society, they both disgust me.

You can only judge a person by thier actions. Period. Words are cheap, and a good amount of people take no responsibily for thier lives thus, at least in my opinion, you have to observe people and thier actions to truly know them. The days of first impressions are over.

Washington's actions dictate his concerns are not about football. He has his money and that is that. IMO, he is done. Get him off the roster, asap. He will be 29 when this is all over, and 1 1/2 years out of football. When he does return to the NFL, and gets another contract, does anyone really think he is going to not repeat past behavior?

Actually, does anyone think he can make it a year with no football to keep him occupied? I don't.

He has lied, cheated, and borderline stealed. At this point only actions can redeem him, and I don't see that happening.

I heard a lot comments about how much selfish Washington was ,but dont forget this guy throw away a lot of money,he has some serious issues and he need help and support .
But we cant forget the great player he is and he always gave his best when he played.
I hope he will receive help not just to come back on the field but to put in order his life, from the few times i listened his interviews i think he is a good dude and i think he is really happy to be a cardinal.
I hope also you all can forgive him ,money not always give happiness

Best of luck to DW in gaining some semblance of maturity and responsibility for his actions. You are right about fame and fortune not always bringing happiness. But neither will irresponsibilty and lies. Guess the only way he had to deal with stress was to revert to his drug(s) of choice even while he had the means to seek treatment and pay for it himself. I cheered for him when he returned to the field last year and hoped that the fan support would be part of the motivation he needed. Didn't work out. At some point in time you have to deal with a sociopathic personality and user by saying 'No more abuse of our trust.'

Card fans were really looking forward to this season since it appeared we have finally assembled the right combination of mgmt, coaches, and players to be serious contenders. That 10-6 record in the toughest Division in football has us all pumped up. This was going to be our year---the window is closing quick on a lot of our key players and coaches and we can tank pretty quick if some of our old timers go down. DW was a big part of that hope and he flushed it down the drain.

If DW is as remorseful as he wants to sound in the release written by his agent and/or attorney, he will return the $5 million roster bonus in full to the Cards. I would like to see my season-ticket money given over to a player who honors the contract between mgmt., fans, and his fellow teammates. Good luck to DW, hope he finds some stability in his life. As it stands, I consider him a con man and thief and not someone I want to see wearing the Cardinal uniform.

I met him back in 2011. And like you, the impression I got was that he was a good dude. He was really humble and soft-spoken. Among the most polite people I had spoken to. Not just athlete, in general. He was surprised when I called out his name and asked him to come over to me. He looked around like there was a different Washington I could have been talking to lol. I liked him when we drafted him and through his rookie year, but became a huge fan that day. And I still am. I can't say I'm not disappointed, because I am. Hugely. But I do believe he will pull it together and come right back as the dominant player he could, and should, be. And I would like nothing more than to see that happen in a Cardinals uniform. Though I do understand if the FO can't deal with the frustration and decides to part ways, I really hope they keep him

Both Mark and Muffin have pointed out very critical issues to be concerned with when dealing with D-Wash in the future. First, (he has talent---thus he has value). Second, he cannot be taken at his word, because he has flat-out lied over and over again, and taken the franchise for a ride that catered only to him and his agent. Thus the dilemma.

It will truly be interesting to see how the Front Office deals with him. Cutting him now makes (little) sense, because the dead money hit would be massive. Getting value for him will be difficult, because of his disdain for veracity. Trying to work with him in the future, (on this roster), will be difficult for the same reason, (plus), the other roster players are more than likely fed up with carrying most of his load. Any way you go, there will be chance for great loss.

This is where I truly feel that Steve Keim and Bruce Arians must deal positively with the (most negative) situation they have had to face since their joining Michael as GM and Head Coach. As I see it, they have one year to come up with a way to maximize Washington's value. None of the avenues they can take, appear to be without threat of huge loss. This should be really interesting.
