After King looked so bad Green goes to Graves and Bidwill says we gotta get a QB in here to run my system these guys can't do it. They say but Dennis we were going to draft that Ben Roethlisberger kid and YOU convinced us to draft Larry Fitzgerald instead. now you want us to spend big bucks to sign a FA like Drew Brees, trade a key player and our first round pick to move up and take a QB in the first round and pay HIM a ton of money? You told us Josh was the guy.

So Green goes away and decides to start Navarre. KNowing he's nowhere near ready, Navarre will stink it up, and it'll be MUCH easier for Green to get support from the front office to pay for a QB because we the fans will all be demanding it and the front office doesn't want to make it appear the same old cardinals are too cheap to spend for a QB?

Russ it was a good effort but at this point DG reminds me of that song they play on the radio now where the comedian is talking and the whole song is basically one long joke.

DG reminds me of the part where they talk about terrorists masterminds.

The guy goes, "Masterminds?" "You go wear this backpack bomb and blow up that bus".. The guy actually blowing up the bus asks, "Why can't I just drop the backpack on the bus and leave?" The other guy goes "SHUT UP I'M THE MASTERMIND HERE!

I have no earthly idea what the heck is going on with DG.

I thought there was a conspiracy on things too but now, I just think he may be very rusty at building an offense.

I think he is going to need a reboot this offseason and then he will probably lose some say in things and then the fun will start.

I like the move. This team needs to know what they have with each of these guys now. McCown, still not quite certian what he brings long term. King, is a back-up, done deal there. Give Navarre a shot. He may be the next Brady, hopefully, or just another body to start this year. Bottom line is do we draft a Qb, get one in FA, or stay with what we have. These questions need to be answered now, before we go into the new stadium. Getting this team respectable going into the new digs is key. Lets see what we have now, and not go through the same ordeal next year.

The last 2 games I agree, but we have 5 games left and navarre will debut sunday in the state where he took abuse his whole college career. I think 2 games to go where there's absolutely no pressure on the kid is fair.

ALso, he's a rookie 3rd stringer with a contract, there's zero pressure on us to find out now what he's got.

I just think Green is tinkering here, he wants to prove to us all that none of the 3 on the roster can do it so that he can get a QB next year.

No way. Not so soon. The offseason after this one maybe.

Depends how the last 5 games play out. Urban wrote in his article just over a week ago that he knew for a fact the Cards were taking a QB and preferred Roethlisberger UNTIL they hired Green. Graves and company said this guy is a QB genius, if he says Josh is the guy, we'll take his word for it, that's why we hired him.

If he then starts making QB moves by throwing darts blindfolded, he's going to lose credibility with them quite quickly. To our knowledge the ONLY thing Green has asked for and been denied was releasing LJ Shelton, and even that was just a Jurecki rumor we've never seen confirmed. He's made enough positive impact to get away with some mistakes.

But if he waffles weekly at QB the next 5 weeks and the guys on the team start to get fed up with it, he'll absolutely be taken to task for it. They won't stand by and watch Green self destruct if he starts down that path. He's not yet, but you gotta admit this is pretty unusual stuff.

Russ-

The grassy knoll your looking for is over to the right.

Last night, when Denny was interviewed after the game, he was asked when he'll name next weeks starter at QB.

Without thinking, Denny said "tomorrow." Then he thought about it, and said, well, we don't practice till Wednesday, so I'll name one then. (like he would need to EVALUATE them)

Not so.

I think this has been Denny's plan since he drafted Navarre. I also think he overestimated Cardinals' fans feelings toward McCown after last year, so he really tried to make him look good early, but learned that he wouldn't be able to run his offense at this time. Shaun King is a veteran backup, brought in as a safety valve, and needed to be exposed on the field. That has now been done, we know what we've got, pretty much, with Josh and Shaun.

Now we get to see what Denny DRAFTED. Denny has had Navarre on the scout team all year, with Denny coaching him. Denny has SHOWN US ALL what we've got in Josh and Shaun, and even if Navarre struggles ...we know what the alternatives would be.

Brilliant.

I was watching the USC-Notre Dame game on Saturday and they showed a highlight of Navarre passing to Marquise Walker to give Michigan a big win.

Ironic because Walker was on the Cardinals last year before being cut.

When both QBs have played poorly, he'll have a good argument that he isn't "throwing darts".

It's not like anyone in our front office has the tradition of picking winners to take him to task anyhow. What, are the Bidwills going to say?

"Graves drafted Anquan Boldin, so you'd better listen to him. Sure, we've had busts out the wazoo, but that was just bad luck. Just like only one winning season since we've moved to Arizona. We're really afraid you'll screw up that great record Denny, so just sit down and listen. We don't want you messing with our winning ways!"

Wasn't green claiming prior to the season that the QB is the one part that is most interchangeable in his offense?

Until Navarre struggles and CHris Lewis starts, then you'll tell us that was the plan all along.

FYI I listened to green postgame and when asked about QB he said I haven't thought about it yet, we have to evaluate, we'll announce it wednesday. I never heard him say tomorrow.

Only later did he say it was wide open and Navarre was in the mix.

That's the whole point. Green could have drafted or signed a QB, and chose not to, other than King and Navarre. Now it's clear the first 2 aren't the answer, he has to make it obvious the 3rd guy isn't easier so that he can push through the "I need a QB" argument with the front office.

If this gets us a franchise QB I'm fine with it. I just think it's funny so many people actually believe he's starting Navarre because he thinks he SHOULD be the starter now.

I think I saw that interview with Green on 'Monday morning point after' on the NFL Network.

I KNOW he said "tomorrow" first, then changed it to Wednesday after practice.

Regardless, he named Navarre the starter on Monday, without looking at the other guys, or needing to evaluate them in terms of "who's ready."

He knew he wanted Navarre for next week, and that's the basis of my theory regarding this QB issue.
