Oh stop it....You should check their schedule the rest of the month before all the gloom and doom. They play the Suns (twice), Spurs, Mavs, Nuggets, Bulls, Rockets plus some other western teams. The only game they can consider easy is when they play the Hornets at the end of the month.

There is NOTHING we can do about the fortunes of the Hawks, whether they tank or whether they start winning. We don't want them to completely tank, obviously, but it will be VERY difficult for them to get a pick that isn't in the top 10, so for that, we can be thankful.

For once I'll agree with you. If we get a top 10 pick out of this we should be grateful.

As a side note we can be glad the Cavs have been losing games the past couple weeks. That pick gets overlooked somewhat but it has been improving as of late.

Their last 4 wins were against decent teams (ORL, ORL, GS, NJ), which is a little scary, but this next month will butcher them (link).

If they win more than 3 games this month (Feb) they should be ecstatic.

Is anyone here an ESPN Insider? If so, did you read the recent article about the Hawks by Chris Sheridan? I couldn't tell exactly what it was about without being able to access the whole article. Something to do with bad news for the team or the coach despite playing better recently.

It is about the ownership group.
The coach and G.M. will probably lose their job if Belkin regains control of the club.
Here is one paragraph that sums it up.
-----------------------------------------
Belkin and his former partners split two summers ago over the price Knight had agreed to pay in the sign-and-trade deal for Joe Johnson, surrendering Boris Diaw and two first-round picks. Belkin lost that battle, but he won the next one when a Maryland judge ruled that Belkin's former partners had violated the terms of a buyout agreement, ruling that Belkin is now the one entitled to buy out his former partners. Belkin is likely to seek a ruling March 7 or shortly thereafter asking the court to award him operating control -- even if the ownership dispute winds up heading to another appeals court. If Belkin is successful, everyone considered to be aligned with the current owners can expect a pink slip.
