I will say this, if this draft doesn't prove Mel Kiper at al have no idea what they're talking about nothing ever will. Kiper is still saying he slid. When he goes undrafted through THREE rounds with Cleveland passing on him what 4 times maybe 5 and he still hasnt' been picked, he's NOT sliding, you just massively overestimated what NFL teams thought of him
I think the rumors of him bombing interviews were, in fact, true. There's no other explanation why he hasn't been drafted yet.

the thing is they weren't rumors, they were just NFL people not wanting to go on record but saying it anonymously.

But Kiper keeps insisting he slid and he didn't he wasn't going anywhere near as high as Kiper thought he was

Bickley brought up the rumor that makes the most sense to me. No team with a coach on the "hot seat" are willing to touch him, because there is a strong feeling that Deon will jump to the NFL and try to coach whatever team Shedeur is drafted to. So if you are already worried about Shedeur and his attitude...wait until he and Deon bust out the "Just wait till my dad is coaching us next year" on social media.

If you think thats far fetched, I think you're wrong. This kid seems EXACTLY like the kind of player who will throw a coach under the bus WAY before he admits his own faults. The only reason you didnt see it in college is that he played for his dad. I can see him being a nightmare for almost all other coaches. That is why people said if a team like the Steelers and Tomlin wouldnt touch him...the most stable coaching sitution in the HISTORY of the league..then he might fall to day 3...which is exactly what happened.

the far fetched part to me is that any NFL team would be considering hiring Deion as the coach?

He did well at Jackson State but largely because he used his reputation to bring in a ton of D1 talents to play against SWAC level opponents. His talent in college has been in attracting talent, not X's and O's.

I can almost gaurentee he will get an NFL coaching job in the next 3 years. The HC doesnt need to be an X and O guy...he needs to be a leader and tone setter. I personally am not a fan of Deon's coaching style...but there is no doubt some team needing to make a splash would strongly consider him, if not give him a shot just for the personality he brings.

The gap between Shedeur and Cam Ward was smaller than the gap between Shedeur and Jaxson Dart. He must’ve carried himself horribly during the pre-draft process. Nobody drafts a guy they expect to be their QBOTF on day 3 so idk where it goes from here.

I think the persona he puts out there in public is the same one he brought into interviews.

If you are a coach/gm and this is how the conversation opens...

xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media

You are not talking to a dude who won the Heisman or a guy who put up monster stats on a title winner... maybe that level of brash confidence could seem charming, but coming from a dude who accomplished nothing and lost every big game he played in, it is bonkers. "I expect to BE the franchise from day 1"...

Again, a lot of these guys talk this way in public (but very rarely in college), to pump up their brand, but I think they understand how things work in the real world and have a different approach when it comes to their professional lives and the people they actually work with.

Right. All this pundit indignation on his behalf, bemoaning what NFL teams are reporting anonymously, saying they should "Put their name to it" and are "cowardly" for saying it...well, the pundits are full of ish. Guess what, pundits? The reports were true and this kid is radioactive.

It's likely a copy cat scenario where every team thinks he and Deon are expected to be a packaged deal and the coaches are afraid of him. The way he acts seems quite normal. The nepo child follows him. Half the media stuff is just click bait.

The problem is that he's a 1st round worthy football player, but he's also a 1st round worthy A-hole if there was a draft for them.

All the ego of his father without the same level of talent to back it up. I feel sorry for the kid, because he is what his father made him, but it was also a mistake to go to Colorado. He should have shown he could thrive elsewhere without his fathers hand.

I would expect him to go in the 4th. You can justify cutting 4th round picks if they are toxic. I hope he goes to the Steelers. Mike Tomlin is the guy to set him straight.

There’s no way Gabriel and Milroe should have gone before him. Let’s be honest.
I would’ve agreed with before every team in the bfl passed on him three times. That tells me they don’t believe in him. First and second round? Okay. But in a league where QB is king you take flyers with round 3. And Ben if you have a qb you take him in round 3 if you think he can play for the pure value. So I believe the nfl was just never as interested in him as all the press.

Yeah I’m convinced the nfl didn’t see him as first round talent. If so someone is gambling with at least a late round 3rd. Someone trades up to late 3rd for cheap assets. He doesn’t have legal problems. Just having an overbearing dad and an jackarse personality doesn’t net a first round talent falling to the fourth. He just wasn’t viewed by the nfl as talented as he, prime, or the media would’ve had you believe.

Unfortunately, it starts at the top. His dad/coach is an idiot, what do you expect. Prime will be the NFL version of Lavar Ball and ruin his kids progress. They’ve been coddled their whole football lives.
University of Boulder is a such a clown show, they retired "Deions Son" Number after a last place finish in the Pac12 in 2023 followed by a pathetic Alamo Bowl loss in 2024. The Buffs win 4 games max this year... it was all ESPN hype

This is it for sure.

You will have Deon sniping at the coach from afar if things aren’t going well.

Jackson Dart ain’t anywhere as good as Sanders.

In the end it will all work out and some of these coaches won’t be around anyway.

Being so cocky and wearing his hat backwards and sideways shows lack of discipline in that interview

Add that his dad will be a problem with trying to get into the locker room and influence the coach

Toxic all the way around

This could end up being a good thing for him if he is humbled and changes his attitude

This might be the best thing that happens to him...if he has the right mental make up and enough NFL talent to be a productive starter.

Hes gonna go on day 3...and he is gonna probably go to a team that already has a starting QB. There is no way he is going to be expected to start this year...and his draft position now puts him in danger of even making a team. He will have to show up to camp, shut up...and play good football...or he will be out of the NFL. He is gonna have to earn his place in the league over the next 2-3 years....and he wont be in a position to throw anyone else under the bus. It will be on him and him alone to make his career.

Now...I personally think the kid is kind of a prick based on everything Ive seen of him. I dont think he will actually do any of that...but it is the best thing that could happen at this point. I would have almost gaurenteed if he went in the 1st, or even 2nd round...he would have come in with all this brovado and cameras all around him and would have tried to make it the "Shedeur Show". Now...if he tries that he will get trolled and clowned on all day long....so its not really an option unless hes just a complete joke.

Imagine how Deon's ego and persona might have changed if he had all his hype coming out of FSU and then he went in the 5th round and barely saw the field...and he had undeniable HOF level talent.
