The movie was pretty good but ...

The ending kinda sucked. Too Hollywood.

How did Giamatti suddenly realize the whole thing was a work? Or was that just thrown there just to tie up the film and give us a happy ending?

Why not just let Norton get on the train and Giamatti never know the truth until he gets the book featuring the orange tree trick?

That's exactly why I liked this movie! :)

I felt like I was guessing to the very end. Is she alive? Isnt she alive? Will they end up together?

I didn't feel like I was guessing at all...I figured it was so obvious...

The ending was somewhat predictable. Still an entertaining film. Ed Norton is a good actor, but his voice is just an octave or two too high. His speaking voice always makes him sound like a wimp.

Giamatti was great as usual, but I thought Rufus Sewell stole the show. He is a very underrated actor, IMO.

Pretty good flick. As good as Ed Norton is, he was outplayed in this by Sewell and Giamatti, IMO.

I would have liked a better twist...I thought the movie was good in spite of being incredibly predictable. The only thing I didn't see coming is that they didn't knock you over the head with it and wrap back around to the "make us disappear" line Biel used when they were torn apart as teenagers.

thought this was a great movie considering alot of the garbage movies they put out nowadays! Norton and Giamatti both very good as usual.

I can't express how much better this is than the Prestige. One of my favorites last year.

Everyone in the Prestige is a slimeball. I have a hard time enjoying a movie like that.

The story in The Prestige was a lot better than in The Illusionist. However, The Illusionist was much more beautiful to look at.

That said, I enjoyed both movies, but I'd have to give The Illusionist a slight edge because of the cinematography.

I also gave the Illusionist the edge in acting. Of course I love pretty much everything Edward Norton and Paul Giamatti do.

i liked the Illusionist a lot, but I was really wowed by The Prestige. However, I read the script for the Illusionist years ago, and really liked it then so by the time it came out and I saw it, some of the "magic" so to speak had already been taken away from it for me.

However, both I thought were a little predictable - but they were both so well crafted and I was so into the characters that it really didn't matter, which is quite an accomplishment in movie built on suspense.

Not better than the Prestige in my opinion! Acting was solid but the Prestige also had great actors and a much better plot and twist.

The red herring of the Tesla reference was brilliant, IMO. Helps that I've always been fascinated with Tesla.
