Saw this today...

Wasn't as funny as I hoped it would be...at least during the first half...seemed slow until the second half of the movie when the whole thing really picked up.

Pretty entertaining second half, but I would say Toy Story, Finding Nemo, etc, are all better than this one...a good addition, but just not the same magic.

Although a sequel will probably happen, and I'll see it :)

I thought the same things about this after I saw it. The 2nd half of the movie once they start using super powers again was pretty good, but the beginning was dragging. It definately wasn't very funny like Monsters Inc or even Finding Nemo. Still a decent movie, but not one of thier best.

The Incredibles on DVD March 15
Source: USA Today
January 17, 2005

USA Today reports that Buena Vista Home Entertainment will release The Incredibles on DVD with an all-new animated short that reveals the latent powers of Jack-Jack, the baby of the animated superhero family.

Jack-Jack's Attack chronicles "what takes place at the house with (babysitter) Kari and Jack-Jack while the rest of the family is on the way to the island or on the island," Pixar DVD producer Ann Brilz says. As the story plays out, the toddler reveals his latent powers.

Other extras include an alternate opening, deleted scenes, bloopers and commentary from director Brad Bird, Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) and Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson).

I just saw this movie last week. I loved it.

There's a pretty big plot point that I simply didn't think was either going to be understood by or necessarily appropriate for kids--the whole reason Mr. Incredible's wife goes looking for him is that she thinks he's having an affair. it's never actually spoken, but it is the reason. I just thought that was a little odd in a kid's movie.

I just got this from the library. It's currently ranked #88 on IMDB, so I'm really looking forward to it.

you'll like it!!

My wife and kids have seen it, and they tell me the same thing. I'm not a big fan of animation, but if it's done right I can really enjoy it (Finding Nemo, Toy Story, Shrek 1 & 2, and The Lion King come to mind). I'll probably like Cars too when I see it.

This is a site that I always go to, to read detailed reviews about movies before I take my kids to it! I was going to copy/paste the review here, but it's just TOO long!

I was curious, so I went to check out this site. I found it very ironic that in the middle of their review of what parents might find inappropriate, there is an advertisement of a woman in a skimpy bikini advertising laser hair removal. I just thought that it was pretty funny.

I am a new fan of this website. I am having too much fun looking up “Imitative behavior” and “Profanity”. I can’t believe that they actually count every cuss word, even “damns” and “gods”. I love their descriptions. Here’s the one for American Beauty:

PROFANITY
At least 21 "f" words (11 used sexually as is the word "laid"), 8 "s" words, 7 slang terms involving male genitals ("d*ck" and 1 use of "c*cks*cker"), 3 slang terms for female genitals ("p*ssy" and "c*nt"), 7 asses (6 used with "hole"), 2 damns, 1 hell and 4 uses of "Oh my God," 3 of "Jesus," 2 of "Oh God" and 1 use each of "G-damn," "God," "Oh Christ," "Christ" and "Swear to God" as exclamations.

There are still plenty of households where "taking the Lord's name in vain" is a no-no. I don't have children, but we'll be one of those households. It's always jarring to me to see a kid's movie where that usage is taken for granted.

Incredibles was a very good animated film. I think it lacked some depth in the storyline (I would hope we could teach our children something about subtext), but what they did put in there was entertaining.
