every scene with Rush is great... every scene without him... meh. If this wins Best Picture I'll vomit. Even though it's about a stutterer, it's just SCREAMING for awards.

Very good movie. In any other year Rush would win the best supporting actor but unfortunately Bale has it all locked up.

Only if Bale promises to do the Batman voice at the podium.

Bale (as played by Mulli with gravelly voice) "Thanks for recognizing what I DO."

As someone who aces "British Royals" on Jeopardy this is definitely on my list. I'll let y'all know if they screw up the true story.

Ok let me ask you this since you ace that category? What is the fascination with the royal family still to this day? In the grand scheme of things they are truly nobodies on a world scale other than being rich?

I just don't get it. All being "royal" means is that you had more $$$ and persecuted all the little people back in the day.

I want to see the movie where a royal tries to get power back to the thrown. Would be cool.

Yeah. Like the Czar? I'd watch that.

Royals who actually had/have power as heads-of-state are interesting to me, but the whole British monarchy since Queen Victoria have been nothing but foppish figureheads.

I'll never understand the fascination with Charles/Diana and now, sadly, Will & Kate. Lame.

I got interested, first, in British history and then kind of focused on the history of the British royal family. They've had some fascinating people in that group. The fact that Victoria was the "grandmother of Europe". I get geeky and read maps and learn where the various battles were when so and so was on the throne.

Charles and Diana? The virgin sacrificed for the good of the kingdom.

The movie interests me because Elizabeth's father was thoroughly unprepared to inherit the throne. The back story is interesting to me. I have a friend (he's quite old now) who was fighting in Burma when his house was bombed in London during the Blitz. His mother met The King and Queen (the subjects of this movie) when they did their rounds shaking hands. Kind of makes history come alive to listen to his stories.

I'm jolly glad we don't have to put up or pay for the British royal family and I'm very glad we don't have that system. I think Charles is a twit. (So does my 85-year-old Cockney friend. Diana he loved.)

The Czar is also someone I've read a lot about. And the Kaiser. How all those cousins link together and that time in history is good stuff IMO.

Very good movie. Not sure it would be my Best Picture pick, but certainly good enough to be nominated. Rush was very good, but come on, Colin Firth was amazing. The only other performance I would rank it up with is Christian Bale in The Fighter.

I love movies like this--the premise just doesn't seem all that interesting, but then the movie just blows you away. I got the same feeling with Quiz Show and The Social Network as well.

I liked this quite a bit. And not just for the acting, which was excellent. This movie had some great sets, including Louge's place. Great attention was paid to detail. And the story was interesting as well. Supposedly there was a lot of effort to keep the movie as historically accurate as possible.

It swept the SAG and DGA awards, so it's become the new frontrunner for Oscars.

I liked this a lot, not sure about Best Picture, but solid. Guy Pearce was also excellent.

Yea I liked it too. Guy Pierce was good in his limited role.

Some of the scenes really had me cracking up.
