Steven Soderbergh to Direct and Produce Cinemax Series The Knick Starring Clive Owen

Cinemax has given a 10-episode commitment to the series, and Soderbergh will be directing all of the episodes himself. The series takes place in downtown New York in 1900 and centers on “the groundbreaking surgeons, nurses and staff at Knickerbocker Hospital, who are pushing the bounds of medicine in a time of astonishingly high mortality rates and zero antibiotics.” Clive Owen will star, and Jack Amiel and Michael Begler (Big Miracle) are onboard as writers/executive producers.
