Anyone watching this? I taped the pilot and might give it a shot. Heard it is very gloomy. Even more gloomy than the books.

I like me some dark TV, but this was too depressing for me to watch on a regular basis.

The pilot freaking dragged on and on and on and on and on and on. This was way slow for a pilot. It was pretty dark which is not necessarily a bad thing but keep people engaged.

Really cool premise but this show probably has another episode..... 2 max to pick up the methodical story telling or I am out.

What I know is that this isn't about what most people think. Some seem to think it's a ripoff of Left Behind but it's to my understanding that the Rapture isn't exactly what happened to the missing people.

This ish just be too depressing! I'll DVR it and if I ever feel the need to push myself into suicide, I'll just marathon this and it should do the trick

Just got caught up on the show, its really dark, but I like it. It took a few episodes for me to really get engaged. The acting is phenomenal, the only character who isnt really working for me is Tommy, the main character's son.

As for the overall story, I think I want to read the source material, but the vibe I'm getting from the show so far is there might not really be any grand mystery to solve and what we're watching is the way society is dealing with a horrible event. Lots of placebo, depressing cults and some people flat out losing their minds.

Its also nice to see a well done, pseudo post-apocalyptic story that (so far) does not revolve around aliens or zombies.

I am with Cheese. This show is downright depressing. Hey we get it...it's sad people disappeared but the show's tone focuses on the despair. It's sort of like staring at the painting The Scream and then asking someone to think happy thoughts.

I am all for dark shows but man......

Yup... I really do think that if the show had any type of gallow's humor it would be pretty good, but it's just oppressively depressing.

I'm enjoying it. I prefer the episodes that show us the overarching story far more than the ones that focus only on one character, though. Word is the audience will know a lot more about what's going on by season's end.

It is by far the most depressing show on television and I am completely enthralled and thoroughly enjoying every minute of it.

Maybe I should try some depression mediation. I am sure I would feel differently about it. Well maybe not...that stuff might simply make be ambivalent about it.

I am too but not because I love the show or anything. I keep feeling like there is going to be this revelation that sort of defines the mythos of this show.

Yeah...I know but I can hope they give me enough crumbs to get me to stay.

hopefully those bread crumbs don't lead us to a church where we find out they've all been in purgatory this entire time.

I'm not getting the impression that this is some big mystery that the show is going to build towards solving. I feel like its more about how people are dealing with a world thats going to the crapper as a result of this bizarre incident.

What about an internet cafe? I hear that's all the rage with the kids these days. It could be a half purgatory half matrix type thing.
