Yeah, the "love train" credits sequence was so unnecessary. None of it added anything IMO. They could just as easily ended it after they got him.

I told my friend as we were leaving that it almost felt like it was supposed to end there and maybe like during screen tests the morons who watched gave the feedback said: "But,, But,,,,, We want to see them back on earth safe and sound with happy endings because we want everything spelled out for us because we are children!"

lol jk

We always stay through the credits of every film. Always have.

Sounds like we should just leave right when the credits stop for this one.

I read the book and don't want to see any extended Hollywood ending.

It is during the credits. If you stay through, you'll see it.

I think we'll skip them. I loved the book and don't need to see a made up Hollywood ending.

I loved the book too and I wasn't really offended by those scenes. They didn't add anything, but I certainly didn't feel they hurt the end product at all.

I haven't read the book, and it was definitely a really "happy" ending, but I was ok with it. It was a hell of a ride and one of the best movies of the year, IMO. Certainly one of, if not the best, movies that Ridley Scott has made since Gladiator (or the director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven).

Just watched this one a couple nights ago. It was better than expected honestly. At some points I was literally on the edge of my seat, lol...the ol'lady has kinda a hate thing going on for Matt Damon,...and even she enjoyed this one.

I rented this on Redbox.

I enjoyed it. Should I read the book.

YES!!! The movie is a pretty faithful adaptation, but it glossed over a lot of the issues he faced on Mars. You get the same humor from the movie, but even more of it. They also talk about the science parts a lot, but it is very easy to follow. One of my favorite books ever!

My wife just finished the book. She said the same thing but wasn't sure how much more detail they could squeeze into the movie without making it drag. I don't know since I have not read it yet.

Very, very good. I enjoyed it, but I don't think it is getting a ton of Oscars.

My guess is gets nominated for Best Picture, possibly adapted Screenplay, but that's about it for the big boy awards.

Lots of nominations, but no wins.
