I wonder if ARZ should go all in and make an offer for Darvish and another reliever. Darvish is a FA this offseason so no long term $$$ to deal with and anyone not named Pavin Smith is expendable. Maybe we can snag Bud Norris from ANA, he is also a rental but having a very good season closing for the Halos.

Grabbing Yu would be a big addition, but I don't know that we have the players to make a deal with TEX. Also, our SP are doing well enough as a rotation to make the FO look for production elsewhere.

Yu has historically been a good pitcher but the past month or so has been pretty rough for him. I think they do it if the Dbacks give up the same level of prospects that they gave up for JD Martinez but I wouldn't want to trade any of the top guys.

Buuuuuuuuuuut...thinking more about this, we have one guy who is actually on a top 100 prospect list and another guy, Duplantier, who is making noise in the minors. Maybe we should keep Pavin Smith and Duplantier and see if the Rangers take anyone else for Darvish.

I was thinking that if ARZ gets to the NLCS or WS where the rotations shrink (Greinke, Ray & Darvish), guys like Corbin, Walker and Godley would basically shift to bull pen and if we get Norris we should be set. TEX won't get much I think because word is they are going to pursue Darvish this offseason anyway if he gets traded. Maybe they have a hand shake deal in place. Forgot about Duplantier but he's already 23 years old still in A ball so kind of leery about his numbers.

Worth keeping an eye on Andrew Cashner tonight. Awful K rate. Bad BB rate. But low HR rate, high GB rate and 3.64 ERA has drawn interest.

Sources: #Rangers initial ask from #Dodgers for Yu Darvish was RHP Walker Buehler or OF Alex Verdugo, plus others. @MLB @MLBNetwork
That is the only positive about not having a strong farm, teams with better farms have to overpay. If LA balks at giving up top prospects, TEX could just hold on to Darvish but maybe ARZ could offer anyone except Smith and TEX knowing they could get back Darvish in FA may take lesser touted prospects from us to lend us Darvish for 3 months, especially if they save the $4M left on Darvish contract this year.

Jon Heyman @JonHeyman

yanks are main team on gray, dodgers seem to be main one on darvish. but just in case, yanks are in touch on yu, dodgers in touch on sonny.
