I still pretty new to this board, but I would like to get something off my chest. I think all of are aware of the chances the so called "experts" give the Cards this season. (except John Clayton, God love him) To put an abrupt end to those negative voices the Cards need to do one thing this Sunday. Destroy the Lions!

I'm not talking about some 23-20 win in OT. I'm not talking about some high scoring shootout. I'm talking about a completely dominating performance from our team on both sides of the ball. And to do that they need to do a couple of things:

1. Surprise the Lions by AIRING out the ball! I'm not saying to forget the running game, but Blake has said through out the pre season that the throwing game has been pretty vanillla. I want to see why they call Brian Gilmore the fastest receiver. I want to see why they say Jeff blake has the best deep ball in the league. They can only do that by throwing.

2. Hurt Harrington! Now before I get any flak, let me explain. I don't want him to be injured, but I want him to be scared. The only way to do that is to put pressure on him, hit him, and hit him hard. Keep those hits on his mind. Hurt him mentally and he won't perform physically.

These are just two things of many. But I think that if we can do these two things the Lions won't stand a chance. Just my 2 cents.

personally....I think you just stole part of mac's pregame speech...I was thinking the same thing..mac will probably say something to the effect of:

"I do not want to win this game by 3 points - we are going to destroy these guys. we have beat this team 5 years in a row and this group is 4 and 0 in the preaseason - and I am sick of everyone disrespecting every player in the room (i.e. everyone says we suck)- so lets go out and destroy these guys.."

after years or falling behind early - I think one of the main goals will be to come out strong to show that it is not business as usual. but...I took the lions in the yahoo pickem contest...hopefully I will be wrong.

Slightly dented would be just fine, then he can be ready to go again the following week.

How about that and a major dent in his aggressiveness.

Maybe we should give him a small dose of jakeplummeritis. Don't worry, it'll wear off in less than a week.

What up man, and welcome!

Flak for what? This is the NFL, and the players get paid millions upon millions to risk "there lives". I am not saying I enjoy seeing people get hurt by any means but if Pace sends Harrington's head into orbit then he is doing his job! As I say, Slaughter the opposition!

I will take a HUGE coffee, and a Cinnabun.

Peace

Welcome Shorty, I like your honesty. THis is football, and people will get hurt. Will it be us, or will it be them? Let's answer this question ourselves by being the meanest S.O.B's Detriot has ever seen! They didn't call Mean Joe Green "mean" for nothing! I want the Bashing Barron Tanner! The Wicked Wakefield! The Terrible Ray Tompson! The Moster McKinnon!

I don't want him too banged up right now he's my backup Fantasy QB although I'm trying to waive him and pick up Drew Brees.

I was hoping to get Hasselbeck but apparently I wasn't the only one ranking him high(I did get Koren Robinson).

Blake is undrafted right now, I nearly claimed him over Brees but I figured I'd stay with Brees until Boston gets hurt and then dump him for Blake.

LOL. Hit Harrington all you want. He'll probably spring to his feet and slap your lineman on the ass (see Brian Urlacher). The kid might not be the best young QB in the league, but he's surely the cockiest. You wont scare him.

Joey is one of the toughest if not the toughest QB in the league. He can take many hits and keep ticking. The guy is never gonna get scared thats just how he is. Unless we get pressure every down(which i doubt) he will not get scared. I think the cards definately need to crush the lions but scaring joey just wont happen.

You are well versed in your knowledge of NFL players my friend. Thanks for your insight.

I honestly try not to post with rose colored glasses on. I know our weaknesses, but I know the Cards weaknesses, and the history of some of their key players.

It's refreshing to see a poster who knows something more than who's starting for his favorite team.

I wouldn't call Joey the toughest. There are plenty of 'troopers' in this league. If I had to vote, Favre would take the cake (as much as I hate him, I respect him). But as you noted, Harrington is no slouch. Come at him, and come hard. Better hope his knack for pocket presence doesn't get the best of you though, because he'll burn you for it.
