Big win today
Yep and a delightful surprise. For once it was a complete win, too. No "got a lead then Howe coached scared by parking the bus" vibes. Now clinging on by the skin of their teeth stuff. It was a slim win, 1-0, but a very deserved win. The two big stars combining to take all 3 points.

Must win at Forrest next weekend now.

What a tale of two halves. Complete referee ineptitude in the first leading to a goal that should never have been allowed to happen (great take by Forrest though), and a bleeding, elbowed Livramento that led to a break and yellow card the other end (with Burn now missing the next game as a result) because the ref didn't even call a foul. Just awful.

2nd half the ref tightened up and Newcastle came out and pounded Forrest into kindling. Love it!

Edit: The ref also should have dismissed Yates three times over. He elbowed Livramento and made him bleed and raked his studs down Longstaff's knees. Even at his kindest, the ref should have booked him for both. Boom, sending off. Then he had a yellow card foul on Bruno AND kicked the ball away. Should have been two yellows on one play, but he got away with one. How a player can do all of that in a game in the VAR era and not get sent off (should have been a straight red for the knee rake) is beyond me.

What an ish show of a first half. Really awful, and IDGAF how much they attacked--it was all for nowt, as the saying goes. Hook Longstaff for Tonali at the break--Longstaff has offered noting but a bad turnover--and hook Willock for Wilson at the break, and freaking take this game. I won't even settle for a draw--this is the game you win if you want ANY chance at CL soccer next season.

Newcastle are an unserious team atm and Howe is an unserious coach atm. Longstaff offering nothing in midfield? Nah, let's not hook him. Let's instead let West Ham walk through...where? Why, the midfield, which this freaking moron didn't fix at the half, which cannot stop West Ham all of a sudden.

Jesus freaking wept.

I’m sure Stout will take this one well
Funny you should comment, because my thinking is that it was going to be the reverse Brighton game--get kicked in the balls all game long but still nick the win.

To concede in such fashion is gutting.

Howe has to be on the hot seat. It is shocking how awful this team has been for large swathes of the season and how they have absolutely no secondary plan to change it up. Where is the pressing that made this team great?

And there you have it, the Magpies in a nutshell. Inconsistent, capable of beating anyone and of losing to anyone. What a joke, man. Absolute joke of a mid-table nobody team.

Swear to Christ, if Howe comes out and says he is "pleased," like he does after every ish game, fire him on the spot.

Eddie Howe's idiotic loyalty to Callum Wilson may end up in him getting the sack. He now has a "serious hamstring injury" to rule him out a further two months. So, great, he can't be sold in January, the team will get nothing for him when he's a free this summer, and Isaak has to be run into the ground--again--which will inevitably lead to understandable injuries--again--and the team will be without a second option at striker. All because Howe would not sanction his sale in the summer.

I get he's a good striker and good servant to the club. I love how he plays and his attitude. On his day, when healthy, he's a good #1, let alone a #2. Those days are long past, though, and it was criminal not to bring in another senior striker in the summer while retaining him. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Thanks a lot, Howe!
