Turned out to be less of a romp, but a comfortable win after a very tricky first half.

Chance to go fourth today, and against Wolves no less. Really wish Howe wouldn't have waited so long to switch up Bruno's and Sandro's positions.

Nine wins on the bounce, into the top four, weirdly in the title race (but not really), and Isak breaks a Shearer record in a 3-0 win. Nice.

Well, that was inevitable. They were never winning all the games. A disappointing way to lose for sure. Well played to the Cherries, Howe's bugaboo team. Now, if this lousy effort sets in like earlier in the season, it will be a huge problem again. Hopefully this was a one off.

Newcastle are absolutely playing with fire. They want to keep their big guns, then they have to get CL soccer. It's that simple. They have to finish Top 5 this year, end of. Now, selling Miggy was the correct decision. Selling Longstaff would be a no brainer, as would getting a hefty profit from Kelly in this window, if they can. Therein lies a problem, though. Midfield is deep enough to lose Longstaff. Same with central defender, now, although it would be a little shakier. Not replacing Miggy, however, is just idiocy.

This is a team chasing CL soccer that is literally one injury from absolute disaster. Callum Wilson has played less than an hour this season and can't be counted on. Barnes is out likely another month. They have one fit LW, one fit RW--which is Murphy, too--one fit senior striker in Isak, and one fit backup striker who should only be playing in cup competitions this season. Oh, and Willock, who can injure himself coming out of the tunnel. God forbid Isak goes down, that's the ball game. No European soccer period. Gordon has to move to striker where he isn't great and there's only Willock to even play on the left, let alone back up. No subs beyond Osula. A second injury and it's a bottom half finish.

I know PSR is a huuuge problem, but they were ready to drop 70 mill in the summer, and now if they trade in the winter they won't be able to trade in the summer? I call BS. Complete and total BS. I'm beginning to get my suspicions that this ownership group isn't quite as keen to spend as we were led to believe. We shall see. Time will tell. If the summer passes us by and we haven't significantly strengthened the squad--and I don't mean added a player, maybe two--then they are being criminally negligent. Fail to achieve the CL because of their January stupidity and they will already be so.

I love how the team is playing and the momentum, but it can all come crashing to Earth real quick.

Well, at least they got the Kelly deal done. That's good. Unfortunately, I think we can kiss CL goodbye. I cannot see how this less-than-paper-thin squad finishes top 4 or 5. Can they qualify for Europe? Maybe. Will the Europa League be enough to keep hold of the stars? Hmm...

Howe put on a tactical masterclass in this one. When I saw five at the back in the starting lineup, I got fears of us parking the bus. Not so fast. Howe designed the game plan to have Fab Schar--the attacking CB--to rove forward and press in lieu of a midfielder. And, for any Gooner goons still bitching and whining about negative Newcastle tactics, it was the defender Schar pressing right outside the Arsenal box that set Gordon up for the second goal. Pure brilliance!

As brilliant as Howe was against Arsenal, he was moronic against Man City. What a stupid, tone deaf game plan. Lay off as much as possible and play to break against them? Have you not watched any Man City games this season? Pair that with lousy effort from the team and you get a thumping loss.

Livramento in for Trippier, naturally. Miley in, which is smart, but Tonali dropped instead of Willock is extremely stupid. Not Howe's fault, though, as Tonali is now carrying a knock At least he makes the bench. 2/3 of the midfield injured is really, really bad for this game. Maybe Longstaff instead of Willock would have been smart; this is a very offensive set up in the midfield, so clearly they're going for it.

Disappointing start, great ten minute or so stretch, then an abysmal second half. Pretty much encapsulates the season in one game.

This is a tough one. Hard to see Newcastle getting anything at Anfield. I'd snap your hand off for a point.

Oh, now Isak's out injured? Stick a fork in Newcastle today the, folks. No chance. So great to have *checks notes* Harvey Barnes as the only real offensive threat off the bench. Le sigh. If the injury is more than a ******, stick a fork in Newcastle's season. FFS.

Sunday is the big 'un. Going to be tough sledding. The big hope is that Newcastle wants and needs this more, and for Liverfool, it would just be the icing on the cake of their season.

Having a Liverfool fan friend over to watch. Fingers crossed! Howe-way the lads!

Wooooo Hooooo!!! The wait for silverware is over!!! Howe-way the lads! From Howe on down to the player at the end of the bench and in the reserves, they will all go down as heroes. I've no doubt Howe will get a statue out of it. So satisfying!

Thanks! Yeah, yours is the next longest drought, I guess. I used to scoff at Spurs fans when they complained, because our drought was much much longer. Now, there will be no scoffing.

My favorite moment was Bruno motioning Lascelles over before they and Trippier hoisted the cup. He wanted all the team captains to do it together. Awesome!
