"The Newsroom," premiering Sunday, June 24, is a behind-the-scenes look at the people who make a nightly cable-news program. Focusing on a network anchor (played by Jeff Daniels), his new executive producer (Emily Mortimer), the newsroom staff (John Gallagher, Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Olivia Munn, Dev Patel) and their boss (Sam Waterston), the series tracks their quixotic mission to do the news well in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles-not to mention their own personal entanglements.

Looks really good.

yeah... it seemed almost like a parody of Aaron Sorkin's other stuff... only written by Sorkin himself.

That's good enough for me. :)

I also see a West Wing marathon coming up on my BluRay player soon, too. That was such an amazing show.

If I worked in that newsroom, I would have assaulted several people by now.

Another damaged crew of people reluctantly team up for one last chance at redemption. There are no original stories anymore. There are however, well written and acted versions of the originals.

I thought it was awesome. Im on lock.

Which ones?

Probably all of them. I have about . <--- this much patience remaining for cynical people in a newsroom, especially wisecracking know-it-alls. Newsrooms just aren't like that. No one ever agrees on a perspective of the world or how to filter the news. They've painted this picture that coverage is about being ethical/moral or going for ratings, but it's just never that black-and-white. We sometimes spend days debating our coverage and never come to conclusion. The people in this show are unbearable and would be anathema to a real process.

Of course it is not realistic, it's an Aaron Sorkin show :) However I did enjoy the first episode and I will watch the next one.

this kind of insider knowledge always ruins fun fiction. Its why I cant watch cooking shows/competitions.

I watched the first 2 episodes back to back. Hopefully they keep the shaky camera style down to a minimum going foward. loved what I saw otherwise.

Anyone see Sunday's episode? The economist explaining the repeal of the Glass Steagall Act was way to simplistic and overly acted.

Saw it. Liked it. I think she is supposed to be academic, by nature, in her character. Maybe is was written so the dumbed down America, with McKenzie McHale acting out the role of a dummy, could understand it.

It's not that I disagree with the writer's take on removing Glass Steagall, I just thought it was too dumbed down for the show...

They don't have time to talk much about glass Steagall because they spend half the show doing jack tripper sight gags and baffoon like comedy in the middle of what should be a kick ass, serious, well written and acted DRAMA. I'm growing very weary of this show...

I loved the last episode. I have to eliminate my knowledge of the topc and just enjoy the entertainment. Like repubs that loved the west wing.

I am totally in.

i watch this show, but I actively dislike it.

And man... Sorkin's portrayal of women is like something akin to a minstrel show back in the day.

and holy crap... WHAT was that with Jim on the Sex and The City Bus?! If that wasn't a jump the shark moment I don't know what was.

They set up the bus scene a few scenes earlier. I had no trouble with it.

And I actually love the show (when I put my "Sorkin is a flaming liberal who is attempting to hide it by making his lead actor a Republican" glasses on).

I hated the American Taliban lines and most of the venom spewed at the Tea Party because it is just totally filled with hate. In past shows he has muzzled it slightly, but this show is a complete hate fest for the left sometimes.

I love the way the guy writes. I just wish he would get off his soapbox.
