I'm making this thread to help reset ourselves after a long weekend.

Here are a few links to some of what I consider "must reads" for my deeper understanding and appreciation of the game that I love.

First, the famous paper by David Romer about coaching and the 4thd down call:

Another favorite is

http://www.advancednflstats.com/

Admittedly, stats are baseball's realm more than football, but gems can be found throughout the site, including:

http://www.advancednflstats.com/2008/09/predictability-on-2nd-and-10.html

This article looks at playcalling predictability. For example, if Seattle passes on 1st and 10, then there is over a 70% that 2nd an 10 will be a run.

Add to the list with your weekly or favorite reads. Doesn't even have to be internet-based. I also recommend reading "Next Man Up" by John Feinstein.

My Must Reads:

Bill Walsh - Finding the Winning Edge - (A "how to" book on turning around a franchise into a winner. Every detail - from QB footwork drills to X's & O's to the introductory speech made to the office staff).

Football Outsiders - Pro Football Prospectus - (Want to know how a team's pass defense does against the other team's #1, #2, #3 or other receivers, TE or RB? Want to know which teams run more sweeps to the left or off tackle runs to the right? It's all there, along with their own re-creation of stats so that they actually mean something).
