This looks like a lot of fun. My friend and I have been looking forward to this one :)

I'm screenshotting this :D

BTW, I like Shane Black. I thoroughly enjoyed Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, so I'm hoping for the same with this.

Holy hell, this movie was one hilarious, thrilling ride. Witty, gritty in places, with great neo-noir elements. I even liked it better than Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone. If you want something that isn't merely regurgitated Hollywood vomit, go watch this.

I REALLY wanted to love this but only liked it. Literally EVERY best bit was in that first red band trailer. That was a bummer for me.

It was amusing and not the same old, same old, but still felt a little let down. Can blame that on high expectations, I guess.

Yeah, they gave away a lot of good stuff, but I still think it was packed with awesome. I can't blame you, though, because it does sound like you had huge expectations.

My favorite line (well, aside from the asparagus line, which almost made me pee my pants--see what I did there? lol), was so fatalistic and so totally noir, I now hate Shane Black because I didn't think of it first.

So and so is dead, so and so is dead, and so and so is dead, and we're just in on the joke. It took me right back to 'That's Chinatown, Jake.' Seriously, they could have ended the movie right there, on a downer, and I would have applauded the movie.

Good! Was waiting for your review before I went to see it. Will see it sometime this weekend.

My buddy and I saw it again tonight after my writer's meeting with a friend who really wanted to see it. Even better the second time through. Picked up on some great tidbits I didn't, or couldn't, notice the first time around.

Loved this movie! The dialog and acting was hilarious. Also loved the 70s music and sets. Great film.

Holy crap, I never commented on this? OMFG, this was one of the best movies last year. Intelligent and witty while being lowbrow and silly.

"All I said is, if you want me to do that, don't eat asparagus!" The rest of the audience didn't quite get it, but my buddy and I were rolling!

"You were in the pool?" "I had to question the mermaids. Where were you while I was working?"

Yeah, Ryan Gosling was surprisingly hilarious. He played off really well with Russell Crowe.

I've found him to be money as an actor, but yeah, the comedic turn he took in this one was great. You're right about their partnership. This would have made such a fun franchise, IMO, but with how bad it did financially, I doubt we'll ever see another :( It would also be a great TV show, but I wouldn't want it without the two main actors, who would never do it lol

It was a good movie, but it was barely advertised/pushed. I don't think I ever seen a trailer for it on on TV commercial. Did WB think it was bad and just didn't push it hard enough?

The chemistry of these two guys was awesome. So much great dialogue between them. It's too bad this is the only film they've done together.

Great mix of 70s detective film and 80s buddy film. The right amount of comedy without overdoing it.
