I think coach Whizenhunt is the best thing that has happened to Cardinals Football since they have been here in the desert. I also believe that we have too many areas that require the concern of the head coach, to have the luxory of immersing the HC in the playbook at game time. Time for the FO to act, and go out an find us an OC----so that the HC can resume identifying, (and fixing), the problems that have been plaguing this team. Most of those problems are NOT new, and have been occurring and re-occurring. It was the lack of progress on correcting these problems that led to the hiring of Haley, so that the HC could oversee the whole operation during gametime. Our records, (AND THE WAY WE PLAY) with Whiz calling plays and being HC, versus having an OC to free the HC for his duties, are spectacularly different. Time to scrap the experiment and proceed to a more normal approach.

Your making a joke there Doug but actually Martz could probably be the perfect OC for this team! We have weapons and despite Martz not being a great HC he could be an excellent OC with the right pieces and I think we have lots of them!

I am curious about this too, Nashman. Warner needs his own personal mentor like he had with Haley. Even if Martz was hired as an offensive assistant, that might be a real plus. One has to wonder what Kurt Warner would think about that. If Warner is on board...

Not sure what Warner and Martzs' relationship is, but if they are not on any bad terms this is a move I would definately look into if not do ASAP! I do not like Whiz as the OC it didn't work the first time he tried it before Haley, we can't take steps in the wrong direction!

Vegas, baby, yeah!
Not to be a downer on this, but if you put Mike Martz and Ken Whiz on the same sideline, there's liable to be a bright flash and a sudden release of energy, akin to a matter / anti-matter reaction.

Don't think the two would be able to get along professionally at all - two completely different types of mentality.

You are probably right, but Whiz is in a conundrum of sorts. He's unable to run his system here because of the current personnel. So he's trying to play the hand he's been dealt...and it's been a very good hand, just a different hand than he would have imagined for his system.

If he was more confident in ML, I think he'd be tempted to play a more closer facsimile to Whiz ball...pound the rock, play action to the TE, throw over the top from time to time, and run a series of gadget plays to keep the DC guessing.

ML is a far better ballhandler than KW...and is better suited in that way to lead a running attack. But, he lacks the quick trigger for play action that Whiz covets.

The Packers DC is a failed HC and is doing a terrific job. Is it the Peter principle that says people rise to their level of incompetence?

I was going to start a thread on the exact same thing. I think it really impedes him from making in-game adjustments because he's so caught up in the original game plan.

For example, our OT's were getting beat one on one all freaking day long and yet we rarely threw a tight end in there to help them. Sorry, but I'd rather take Lance Long off the field and put a tight end in to ensure protection so KW isn't getting destroyed and can actually find Fitz and Boldin.

To Whiz's credit, he finally started running screens at Harrelson's(sp?) side and took advantage of his overrunning the play, but the adjustment should have been made earlier.

These are things I think he would point out to the OC if he were removed from the play calling.

Could not agree more.
