For what its worth here's how it looks to me. After a solid game last week, Humphries was more like what I saw in college: clueless! He has skills but rarely plays up to his talent. Palmer won't last long if Humphries plays. Sowell plays hard, but lacks athleticism. Larsen is only slightly better. The first few weeks figure to be very challenging. The Cards better not call any plays that develop slowly. They'd also better stay out of third and long.

I'm guessing Chris Johnson is thinking he signed with the wrong team. He figures to get fewer carries after DJ's impressive display. The latter is exactly what I said he'd be; a runner with a ton of upside. Fans and BA should be careful about pushing players with legitimate injuries to hurry back. Especially those with injuries that are easily aggravated. Now they can avoid overusing Ellington. This might be the deepest position on the team. For example, I think Grice, though talented, will have trouble making the team.

You could make an argument that the receiver position is deeper. I hope they get lucky and get Shipley to the practice squad. He reminds me of Prohel and could be a fine third down possession receiver. Too much body catching from other would-bes, like Spadola. Golden needs better concentration as well. Nelson has looked far tougher than I expected. He may well be a difference maker. At the least he's a great decoy if he can stay healthy.

The TEs looked like projects, but in this offense their production is likely not crucial. If anything they'll get better.

Quarterback has become more interesting. Palmer looks fine. Stanton is about all you can hope for in a backup. He'll make some bonehead throws, but he can win a few games too. I'm fascinated with the third slot. I think they'll keep 3 QBs, though they may try to slip Sims onto the practice squad. He lacks the Thomas athleticism, but looks far more coachable and composed. I see Thomas leaving. Someone else will surely take a shot at Thomas, but I think he'll eventually disappoint. That said, his potential is intriguing.

This offense is good enough to win the West if they can get their best O-line together in time.

Good stuff Harry.

I think that CJ will get some playing time because DJ and Juke will get dinged up at points during the season and BA can go with the healthiest back each game.

Cut Sims and then try to get him on the PS. If that happens then cut LT and then if Palmer goes down move Sims from the PS to the 53 man roster. Is that what you are thinking?

Furthermore if another team signs Sims then do we not cut LT so that we someone who knows BA's offense as insurance in case of injury to Palmer.

I agree about Shipley, he seems to have an "it" factor to me that he is an NFL caliber WR.

Nicely said Harry. At this point in time, I would like to see BA give much more QB time and reps to Sims and Thomas, especially in the remaining pre-season games. Practice reps should be sufficient for Palmer to cement his relationship with his receivers and backs. Stanton is what Stanton is and will not likely improve with any further pre-season game time at QB. Let Sims and Thomas really fight this third QB thing out and decide it on the field of play in real game time.

I wouldn't worry about any team claiming Sims. Teams have a 3rd string QB that already knows their system. As for Thomas, who cares is somebody claims him? He's never going to be a NFL QB anyway.

Agree about the Oline. We need our best guys healthy and playing their best. Right now CP is in danger of taking big hits with our weak links. Hump showed no improvement last night which is discouraging.

Nice stuff, Harry.

Also, can someone tell me what B. Golden is actually better at than Shipley outside of being faster?

Harry, you hit it right on the head with Shipley. He does remind me of Prohel. I really hope they can find away to get him on the 53 man roster as I don't think he will make it to the PS. Someone will pick him up.

I just think BA put to much time into LT development that he won't want to cut the cord yet. I see potential in LT and I also like Sims so far. If either or cut, I doubt either will make the PS because someone will pick them up too.

Nice stuff, Harry.

I honestly think they are about the same in everything thing. Speed, catching ability. I hope they can keep both, if not one gets to the PS.

I also heard that PP is going to start doing KR and PR? I sure hope not!

I think we have seen everything we can from Golden - he is a good football player, but he seems to be at his ceiling - which is WR5 or WR6, making him expendable and someone you bring back on the roster to cover injuries.

Re: Humphries.

Somers had a tweet last night that is keeping me sane-- he noted that pretty much all young tackles these days, even those taken very high, struggle early. I know Branden Scherf had an equally rough night last night as an example.

JJ Nelson has been a pleasant surprise.
