I'm not a hater. I just want more out of #10. I'm willing to wait for a QB to develop than to have us reach for Sims.

Shogun, can you answer these questions:

Why should he be considered so high as an underproductive college LB that simply works out well?

Why should he be considered so high as a chick beater?

Why should he be considered so high with all the concussions he has?

I think I read you answer the first, but some may not have. I'd like to read you answer the other two, though.

To be fair he didn't hit the girl nor rough her up in anyway (from all reports) He did do a stupid thing, but there is no evidence of this being a pattern. Let's not label the guy over an isolated incident that even she wasn't willing to pursue.

Most women or most people dont pursue it. That is just a fact of abuse of any kind, especially when it comes from a supposed loved one. It is a sad fact but true.

Hit, push down to the ground and stand over her, verbal its all the same in my book.

Understable but the guy has no history of violence toward women and I think it is quite sad that a kid gets labeled something over one incident. Hell he very well may be everything people have labeled him but it sure hasn't been a problem until now 3 days before the draft. For all we know she could have been the aggressor in this incident.

It has been a problem for a long time. Every scout and GM in the world knew about it. Its just that most poeple here didnt know about it. All they knew was that he had some police trouble once.

And yes he should be labeled after one incident.

And who cares if she was the aggressor which there are no statements to that effect. And even if she was he is a 225 LB football who could have easily calmed her down without doing this:

"Witnesses told police that at one point Sims "slammed her on the ground" and straddled the 5-foot-2, 118-pound McGriff as she lay on the concrete in front of a residence hall near the Florida State campus.

As she tried to stand, the player repeatedly shoved her back onto the ground. Sims remained aggressive when officers arrived, the police report said."

I find it dishearting that people are making excuses or blowing off this type of action. I guess most of you have never been around that sort of thing at any point in their lives. Statistics show that if it happened once it has happened in the past or will happen again at some point. Not saying it will in this case but the numbers are staggering and disturbing. I know what I speak of and I am very passionate about this sort of thing which is why I have taken such a hard stance on it, and gets me in a pissed off mood so I apoligize to anyone if I come off the wrong way as it isnt directed at you. I volunteered at a womens shelter when I was in highschool, I had to after getting caught stealing as a young teenager. I stayed on for 4 more years after my time was up and I still correspond to a lot of the women and children I met there after I moved.

Clif, I disagree.

While he may have no history i.e police record of prior incidents. It doesn't mean it hasn't happened more than once.

Domestic violence doesn't always get reported because women can suffer from the 'battered wife' syndrome in which they think it is their fault or still 'love' the guy and don't report it.

If she was the agressor - that is still no excuse. By all means you should be able to defend yourself if she came at you with a knife or gun etc. But repeatedly shoving her to the ground and verbal abusing her doesn't make it sound like it.

Sorry. If the guy is concussion prone I don't want him. I'll always have this fear that he is one hit away from never playing football again...

Joe I am certainly not trying to belittle domestic violence in any way shape or form. I have seen this first hand from someone in my family, but not all situations are the same so you have to review each one individually. The guy did something stupid no doubt about it, but what bugs me is when people are blackballed for a mistake that are uncharacteristic. Again he could have a laundry list of things on his record, but there is no evidence that is true so why should we just assume that he is a virtual threat? I am not asking the guy to run for mayor. I just want him to make some plays on the football field.

Clearly not worth a top 15 pick IMO. He'll go somewhere around 20-30 , Carpenter, Wimbley etc. will go higher.

Sign me up for the no thanks for Sims at 10 spot.

And it doesn't mean that it has either.

Very familiar with the battered wife syndrome, but we would be making an assumption as to why she didn't report it.

If she was the aggressor - no it is not an excuse to beat on her (which he didn't do per the report) but it certainly would explain why they were in the situation in the first place.

Again I get it. He overreacted and did something really stupid but I sure as hell would not drop him on my draft board because of this incident.

deja vu

Man I'm getting a feeling of deja vu. This sounds just like the "I hate Derrick Johnson" threads that populated this board last year. We all know how that one worked out.

FSU linebacker arrested, suspended

All-American candidate Ernie Sims was arrested and charged with beating his girlfriend earlier this week. The Florida State starting linebacker has been suspended from the team in accordance with FSU's Code of Student Conduct.

Tallahassee Police report that Sims and his girlfriend were in an argument at a dorm parking lot when he picked her up & prevented her from leaving.

"He grabbed her, held onto her and wouldn't let her get away," Meadows said. "He picked her up and carried her back to his car. He did not hit or beat or slap her. She had a scrape or something. She wouldn't let us photograph her. He had some defensive wounds."

This misdemeanor charge hits the defense especially hard, as starting LB AJ Nicholson is already in hot water from his Taser episode last month.

UPDATE: At the, ahem, request of a reader, here's the story as told by the Tallahassee Democrat:

Florida State linebacker Ernie Sims was arrested early today on domestic battery and resisting arrest without violence charges, according to a Tallahassee police report.

During an argument with his 5-foot-2, 118-pound girlfriend, Sims - 6 feet and 225 pounds - "slammed her on the ground," then straddled her and repeatedly "shoved her back to the ground," the report said.

He also refused the commands of police who responded to the scene, outside Osceola Hall around 4 a.m.

Like we said, arrested & charged with beating up his girlfriend.

He is not a top 10 pick period. If Denny and Company want him slide down in round 1.

I was listening to 590 The Fan (best sports talk radio for the St. Louis area) and they were doing a sort of mock draft and a sports writer from the Arizona Republic called in to do the Cards' pick and he chose - you guessed it - Ernie. He said he was torn between Cutler, but chose Sims due to DG's draft tendencies, that the Cards have usually done well with FSU players and other stuff that you've all heard before.

For a moment my heart fluttered for the fact that it's actually possible. :)

Only a couple days away!
