The only FG attempt call worse than ours that I can find.

The Bears and Niners were playing in 50 mph wind gusts... yes FIFTY! Going into the half the Niners had a 3-0 lead with neither team really being able to move the ball, the Niners, right before the half, decided to attempt a long FG in these winds.

It was blown well wide of the posts, then returned for a TD. That touchdown was the key to Chicago's ugly win. And watch Urlacher on that play, he comes flying in, blowing by the return man like he is standing still to make the final block. Urlacher is one of my favorite non-Cardinals of all time.

Full highlights of how crazy the weather was that day are linked below, but be weary of a nasty knee injury to Cedric Benson.

The QBs in this game, a combined 9-26 for a combined total of 95 yards. That has got to be the lowest in like... 40-50 years?

I don't have a problem as much with the attempt, but I do with the execution letting them run it back 109 yards. I turned to my wife BEFORE it happened and said watch JAX run this thing back for a TD. And I am a very glass half full person!

a 66 yard field goal was made on sunday, going for it with prater was not a bad call. one of the strongest legs in the nfl. direct your anger to the entire team who let him return it for a TD

Prater would have been good from 66 and Tucker would have missed from 68. Neither were a bad call, IMO.

lot of complaining about a field goal in a game we won by 11 AND people forget we won last week because of a long field goal attempt before half time.
It's a symptom of greater concerns about poor game management. You don't need to take huge risks in a tight game, which is what the game was at the time.

That was the last play of the game though if he misses that and they return it who cares the game is over. Ours was last play of the half.

That said we don't know what Prater told Kliff he may have said I can make this kick.

I love all the people still defending the decision to kick.

Does it not matter THAT NOBODY IN THE HISTORY OF THE GAME AT ANY LEVEL HAS EVER MADE THAT KICK?

It would be one thing in your home stadium, with perfect conditions, at altitude, or maybe in Denver. To do it in humid Florida in outdoor conditions was pure stupidity, and we were justly punished.

Those 6 yards might as well have been the grand canyon in terms of intelligent call.

And maybe not kicking to a premier kick returner to boot.

Every team and coach in the league tries desperately to get to within FG range with time running down in the half. They all try it without hesitation if they think their kicker has a chance to make it. Not one of them is thinking but what if they run it back for 109 yds for a TD. That is just as unlikely as hitting a FG from 60 yds +. Some of you are just nitpicking things to hate on our coach. He isn't perfect and there are things worth criticizing, but this isn't one of them.

Prater is going to say he wants to kick it just like a starting pitcher tells the manager to stay in. It’s the coaches job weight the risk/reward. Don’t give the inferior team a spark.

A field goal team does not have the personnel to cover a return, especially when those huge linemen have to run so far down the field to make a tackle.

No, those aren’t the worst. You forgot the field goal attempt by the Packers in the NFC Championship when they were down 8. Lol. “Let’s kick it and then I’m sure our defense will stop Tom Brady.”. That was HANDS DOWN the WORST decision to kick a field goal EVER!

Uh no. It’s not 60+. That’s changing the question. This wasn’t a 60, 61, 62, 63, 64 yarder which have all been made. This a 68 yarder. Four yards longer than any make ever. Two yards longer than the barely doinked made new record that day. It was stupid. Missed FGs have been returned. Sometimes even for TDs. And the odds go way up when it’s a premier returner waiting back there.

They didn't have to run "so far down the field." They just had to stop a guy from going 109 yards. Where on the field they stopped him didn't matter as long as they stopped him.

That final block in the back. Was that legal back then?

Not kicking the FG last night was a terrible decision by Sean McDermott.

I think you only do that if you don't have confidence that you can win in OT.

Turning winning and losing into a 50/50 proposition is dumb when their chances in OT based on how their team has played for entirety of the season so far suggests they should win.

Especially with the Titans having some huge injuries during game they lost 4 starters
