Their defense is decent but man o man is their offense horrible. They make the 49ers from last year look good. They have scored 6 points the last 2 pre season games and 7 in the opener. Campbell is not the answer...Again another QB that for some reason coaches thought was alot better than he is. He looks lost. The Redskins don't scare me at all.....

I only caught the end of the game and Zorn did not look ready to handle the duties of a HC. Way to much time wasted down by 2 scores.

My pick for them being division winners is looking bad all the sudden.

Here's my thoughts:

1) Be very glad our coach Whiz gave up playcalling on game day. The biggest failure of the game was Zorn's offensive playcalling. Uninspired and especially horrific under the 2 minute warning.

2) Campbell's repeated checkdowns were also awful, I'm not ready to write him off, a couple of times last year he looked like the real deal.

3) The Redskin's inability to double Buress. When Landry finally rolled over to Buress it helped the D a lot. Manning didn't seem overly concerened with going anywhere else.
Both Buress and Jacobs are so much bigger and stronger than their defenders that it's really impressive to watch them.

4) Madden did a WONDERFUL job breaking down the game tonight. Usually I'm one of his biggest critics, but he really showed why when he's on his knowledge makes him great.

The Skins adjusted well at halftime. Zorn will get better. They impressed me and I expected them to be worse. Give Campbell time to absorb the offense and the Skins might be fairly good by mid-season.

On the other side, NYG was underwhelming.

That game was painful to watch. On th eothe rhand the Giants were stupid to not force feed that ball to Brandon Jacobs the whole game. He was killing Washington.

Adjusted well?? They didn't score in the 2nd half and double teamed Burress to slow down a bad Giants team. They gained 203 yds and let a guy who missed training camp and preseason catch 10 balls. How could you see Campbell improving in the 2nd half? The skins offense looks anemic and Campbell has really struggled in his last few games...including preseason.. I don't see them winning 5 games this year.

Yeah that was one of the most boring open games in history. They need to stop it. I was so let down by the poor play and overall loss of adrenaline.

BTW I think Eli is in the running for the worst Superbowl winning QB award. Boy did he stink it up.

Somewhere the likes of Dan Marino and Dan Fouts are probably cursing the GODS for never being lucky enough to ride the coat tails of their defense to a championship like Eli.

Few items;
  • Madden is awesome. One of the best in the business.
  • Love, love, love NBC showing nearly every replay from the endzone cam. Helps see line play! In the next 10 years, play by play will be shown from this angle (Madden cam) and not the 1950s side to side cam. The time has come.
  • Love, love NBC displaying a quick note on the packages (ie NYG 6 DB, WAS 4 WR). Kick ass.

I also loved the live feed on NFL.com. Being able to switch camera angles all while surfing the web.... awesome. I just wish Cardinals games were shown like that.

Yeah, that was awful. Those two teams are pretty boring to begin with and then they both took mediocrity to a whole other level. Definite snooze-fest.

There's no reason whatsoever why the Cards can't beat both of those teams this season.

After the first series he looked like a world beater. He got worse as the game went on (I think--as I said I was snoozing). But I think he'll be a competent QB this year. not great, but pretty good.

Disagree. Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer come to mind in that category

That's just silly IMO. He had something like 7/9 3rd down conversions and played a better than average game.

No he didnt. He wa slucky the redskin DB's had butter fingers. because he would have been terrible otherwise. But since they did he merely was avergae.

Anybody keeping track how many playbooks Jason Campbell has had to learn since college and his pro career? I think its around 7 or something like that.

Still too early to write some one off with their first game with that playbook.

There was a play earlier in the game where he almost killed Landry.

Welcome to Giants football!

There is a reason why I grew up 15 minutes from NYC and now am a Cardinals fan.

You think this is bad. Rodney Hampton off right tackle for 3 yds with Ray Handly was HORRENDOUS!!!!! Completely unwatchable 4 1/2 football games.

As for the Redskins....it is only week one. All team get till week 5 until they show thier true colors.

word, i think both the skins and the giants will improve a great deal; game 1 is almost always ugly, either the O or the D doesn't work
