None of them talk of a team that is vastly improved from a year ago. They want to talk about how the Cardinals got what they deserved. They show no support for a team, that I think, has played very hard all year long. The Cards have not always played well, and they have some big holes to fill to become the team we want them to, but this team played with a spirit I haven't seen in a long time.

I can not see a team coached by Mac that had lost a healthy Boldin for most of the season, and Shipp for the entire season, competing like this. The defense is much better than a year ago, and I would rather go through growing pains with a young QB than one taken from the scrap heap of some other NFL team.

The truth is we are much closer than last year. We have a direction in which we can now fill holes and get better. (Last year this organization was the Titanic) I am looking forward to the offseason, and trust Green will make the changes that need to be made.

GO CARDS!!

All I can say is that in game 15 the Cardinals are still playing hard this season. Wasn't the case the last few under Mac, the team quit on him early, especially last year.

There just isn't enough talent on this team YET to get over the hump. Denny just needs to continue to mine the gold in the draft and FA and in a couple of seasons we will see something special.

Yep. In general, it is more popular to kick the Cardinals than it is to support them in Arizona. Lots of losers in this state.

It's just typical Ban Dickley at it again.

I wonder how may times he said "Bah Humbug" during Christmas?

He does fit the AZ Repugnit's sports philosophy:

The glass is not half full, and it isn't half empty....nobody wants the frickin' glass anyway.

The Channel 12 stuff is just as bad. That obnoxious little nerd Zenner immediately jumped on either of the two guests whenever they uttered even the most lukewarm, semi-hopeful remark for the Cards last night. Its like they have to sign a contract to trash the Cards at all points, before they go on air and Zenner sees it as his job to enforce it. Obviously there are a lot of hopeful things to take out of this disappointing season. Anyone tries to get one of those points past Zenner he immediately becomes hysterical. Its embarassing.

CH12 is pretty bad. I think they stooped to a new low when Curtis went off on the Tillman family for the profanity at the funeral. Like they had any right to broadcast it in the first place.

The media. Always whining about something.

Bickley

Dan Bickley. That guy is horrible. He's the most Anti-Arizona person I've ever seen. I can't believe he writes for the local paper! Whenever the Cards (or D-Backs, Coyotes, or Suns) do something good he always says "what a fluke". And of course when they're playing poor he gives constant criticism. He should just move back to New York if he wants to trash our teams. Thats the problem with the paper being owned by a national company. When a sportswriter job is open in Arizona, they offer the job to some low-life that couldn't make it back East. He doesn't care about Arizona sports, but takes the job anyways. Horrible. Stupid AZ Republic

While there has been progress made: a pass rush, better team defense,
more talent added to the roster, closer games and a change in attitude
towards winning(players & management) we still have won only 5 games.
This league is not based on improvement, only wins and losses. While I see
the changes being made to win, the only way to win over the doubters is
to win on a consistant basis. We have one winning season in the Valley,
and have not had two winning seasons in a row since 1984 as an organization. Until we do that media, fans and other doubters are going to
rip us. Bottom line we are what we are. There are no moral victories in this
business, you are judged on W's and L's. Fair or unfair, it's reality.

I agre for the most part the exception being Kent Somers. He want's them to win, it would make covering them every day far more enjoyable.

He and Darren are there every day and losing gets old and makes it hard to be optimistic. Imagine your job being to be at the Cardinals training facility every day for the last n years.

I would get me down as well

Keep in mind that Denny isn't making the media his friend either. When you come here & say "playoffs" or "we have a winner in town" you are asking the local media & bandwagoners to bash the holy crap out of you. If they manage to muster up a win against Tampa this weekend the year will have been an improvement over last year & will go out at least on a winning note. A few things to think of this year in regards to "would'a, could'a, should'a & what if's"

What if, Kendall doesn't get cut, Q & Shipp don't get hurt in training camp, they scored one touchdown against Atlanta, they split with San Francisco, feel free to add on the list. But the fact is this was a 4-12 team Denny took over & I said 6-10 would be a decent improvement & I'm OK with that...

I'm sure that's true to a point. But there's tougher ways to have to make a living too.

I agree with the thread title.

But a little house cleaning is in order.

Somers and Urban are reporters. Thier job is to report Cardinal news.

Bickley and all these other talking heads are COLUMNISTS. A COLUMNIST writes opinions, mostly opinions that are controversial, so people will read thier columns, and justify thier jobs.

Bickley is from Chicago. He wrote a book with Michael Jordon when he was there, and that is his claim to fame so to speak. He has little man disease. He's a little dick that gets a power trip from thinking he's a big shot from Chi-town out here in the dusty west telling all of us how it really is.

The moral of the story is, any news is better than no news.

You guys keep talking about the team quitting on Mac. Didn't the Cards pull out an unbelievable win to knock the Vikes out of the playoffs last year? That didn't look like a team that quit to me. If DG is lucky he will have 2 more wins than Mac did last year. He talked so much crap about playoffs, and Josh being his guy etc, it's not surprising that they are ripping him. Don't forget, before Shipp was hurt Green had demoted him to 2nd string behind Emmitt, so who knows how much he would have played. And the only reason Josh is in there right now is that Navarre broke his hand. I'm not defending Mac, but I'm not exactly enthralled with Green either. He talked the talk, but this year he definitely didn't walk the walk. Then again, he did put us in position for another top 10 pick WOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please.

If DG has two more wins than Mac, that's a whopping 50% increase over last year.

DG talking crap about the playoffs? Excuse me, but we were in position to make the playoffs till game 16 right? One must be able to determine the difference between a head coach saying we should EXPECT to make the playoffs, and a head coach saying he thinks we can go 9-7, to a columnist "hearing" that the coach told a sales meeting we could go 10-6, and then claiming for the entire season that "Denny said we'd go 10-6."

If you want to compare Mac to Denny, just look at the draft class Denny had this year, then compare that, to all the high draft picks Mac had, that we got rid of this year. The ability to spot talent is where Denny beats Mac hands down, and after all, isn't that the most improtant attribute for a head coach to have?

But we are in a horrendously weak division this year, take last years team this year and we SHOULD win more games just because of that.

Green has improved our talent and our team, no question, the whole problem I have is the 2 losses to San Francisco, a team I watch nearly every week and believe me they are a BAD team. Both times we played them the local papers were talking about rock bottom, let's hope they don't quit on Erickson, then they beat us. Green has improved us immensely, no more complete whitewash losses, but the 2 losses to SF are inexplicable.

Also, yes Mac sucked at drafting but this years draft was phenomenal, there are a LOT of teams who got big help this year. If we'd moved down this year like we did the year before we still would have made out like bandits. Graves and Mac just picked the wrong year to trade down, the dropoff was huge.

Russ-

We had the toughest schedule in the NFL this year, remember?

Please stop defending Mac's talent evaluation. Without looking it up, all I remember about that period was all those high pick linebackers that suck, all the worthless pass rushers, all the useless running backs, all the terrible defensive backs, and a #2 overall left tackle that played out of position till Mac left.

Would you like to discuss Mac's free agents as opposed to Denny's?

New England got beat by Miami.

Didn't defend Mac at all, just said that this was an abnormally good draft class this year so a LOT of NFL teams cleaned up. It's not just great talent evaluation, it's dependent on there being talent to pick, this year there was a lot and Green did a great job of identifying it.

I spent Mac's entire tenure as coach asking how a guy who coaches the weakest part of the team, the defense, gets promoted to head coach when said defense quits on Vince Tobin? I had no issue with mac as incumbent, but Mac as head coach was nonsense.
