Bennett would be nice IF he can stay on the field and not the injured list. A bit injury prone but a nice back. Then, we can pick for another area of need and there are MANY on this team.

you guys are gonna hate this, but if Leinart comes out I'll bet we take a run at him. If the draft were today we could get him.

How do you figure if SanFran and Miami are ahead of us? Unless we play San Fran three more times they figure to have a higher draft pick than us.

Bennett and a healthy Shipp could be a nice combo. And how about having Emmitt back as a red zone back?

First Round

I started looking closer at Benson this year. As a Sooner, I started out thinking that Benson was a guy who would put up good numbers but wilt when the pressure was on. After watching him closely this year, I saw a power back who runs well between the tackles and in traffic, can carry a tremendous workload, and handle the pressure of being the go-to guy. I think he would be a good pick. That said, we had BETTER improve our run blocking on the line if we want ANY RB to be able to perform. Cadillac dances around a lot and that worries me. I think Ronnie Brown would be a good fit. I'd like to get a big run-stopping DT, but I don't see any worth a top ten pick. I think Rolle would also be a good pick. We need to upgrade CB and FS.

I'm with you Dogg. With the Card's draft postion improving every week, I think it is shaping up to be either a RB or Rolle. Maybe even a QB.

It is becoming pretty clear Smith won't be back and I think he's known that for many weeks now. I wouldn't be surprised if his agent already approached the Cards, they said no thanks, and that is where his attitude is coming from.

Sorry Horns fans, but think Denny would have little interest in Ced Benson just like he had little interest in Steven Jackson but wanted to trade up for Kevin Jones. Yeah CB's a workhorse and can bust it in between the tackles and would be a great fit for a grounded coaches such as Schottemheimer, Cowher, or Gibbs. But Denny wants to air it out and make big plays, which means getting a back who can make something happen in the open field and can get to the house. Robert Smith was never a "workhorse" in Minnesota just like I don't expect our next RB to be.

I think we could use a workhorse back. Like Benson. He's not exactly slow either. He might not always take it to the house but get 25-30's alot.

That's pure BS, it's just a way of taking a cheap shot at the FO. Do you really think we would try to resign him, pleeze.

I would agree. Look what happened to Ricky Williams in New Orleans. The new coach wanted a back like what you describe being Green's preference.

Williams, the work horse back, goes to Miami and 35 carries a game and then to Dali Llama U and 35 Ohmms per day, while NO brings in Duece who is more like the open field runner Green wants.

Benson can catch the ball out of the backfield but he'll be better suited to a place that wants to operate like San Diego or Tampa or Pittsburgh.

Of course it wouldn't hurt with our current slow poke receivers to have a power guy who will force the safeties up to help tackle him. Make it easier for them to get open downfield.

Just a guess - I'm assuming the QB from Cal comes out this year. I think he'll go ahead of Leinart. Plus we're pretty high in the draft right now ourselves, around the number 4 pick I believe. Leinart will go top 5 I think but I don't know if he'll go top 2 or 3.
