Dbacks two back of Giants. Three game set in SF. Last series in SF, Giants won three one-run games.

Time for revenge!!

Still too many games left to say this series is "the season"... BUT - if you're a fan of baseball, you simply have to LOVE this series!!!! Incredible pitching matchups across the board. It promises to be yet another tight, hard-fought series between these two teams. Wouldn't at all be surprised to see each game come down to 1 run, 9th inning affairs...

The D-Backs have issues with their 7th inning relievers... If they can somehow get to the 8th inning with a lead, ya gotta love our chances with Hernandez and Putz holding things down.
So, can Kennedy, Hudson and Marquis somehow get us into the 8th inning?? Both Kennedy and Hudson are averaging 6 2/3rds innings per start. And Marquis has always pitched very well against the Giants... ya never know...

Offensively, we NEED Upton to come up big!! Any word on Goldschmidt and if he'll be starting??

Seeing the defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants atop the NL West shouldn’t come as much of a shock.

After back-to-back last-place finishes, the Arizona Diamondbacks’ opportunity to move into first place this late in the season is, in contrast, quite surprising.

With the top spot in the West ultimately up for grabs, the visiting Diamondbacks and Giants open a heavily-anticipated three-game set Monday night.

San Francisco (61-47) has led the division since overtaking Arizona on June 25, but now finds itself just two games ahead of the Diamondbacks following a three-game sweep at the hands of Cincinnati over the weekend. The Giants scored a combined five runs over the first two games before they were held to a season worst-tying three hits during Sunday’s 9-0 defeat.

This is the first time I've been nervous before a series in a few years.

Great feeling!

Duke is still a major weak link in that pen, IMO. And Gibson seems to love throwing him. His numbers are consistent with his entire body of work, so he's not going to suddenly get better. I'm a bit confused as to why he's there and we're not going with some other option.

What a great game and a great way to start this series! Got down early. Ump clearly blew a call when the SF 2nd baseman dropped the ball. But in true Gobby-ball fashion, the team never quit!

Goldschmidt just looks like a beast! Great way for him to start his career in the bigs!
Upton now has a 13 game hitting streak!
Parra inching closer to .300.
Miggy continues to come up with clutch hits! Same for Willie and Roberts!

Johnson looks entirely lost at the plate. He's a serious problem.
And is the Burroughs experiment over yet??

Tomorrow night another awesome pitching duel!! Can hardly wait!!

Great game - 5 runs, no HR's. Love it.

Agree on Burroughs - why is he still with the team?

I gotta say, if you just watched the media, you would think the Giants have an 8-10 game lead and are cruising into the playoffs...

Especially when they made the trade for Beltron, ESPN had already crowned them NL west champs...

As the legand Lee Corso says.. "Not so fast my friend"... :D

This was a big game, and really puts the pressure on them in the next 2.. if we can just win one, we did our job..obviously

Pretty sure Collmenter is staying in the rotation. Owings to the bullpen

Which makes the Dbacks lack of a trade for an infielder all the more puzzling

They tried and got close to getting a corner infielder but the other team was simply too greedy (at least this what I got reading between the lines from a Towers interview on KTAR).

Good luck guys.
I have terrible feeling that Lincecum command is going to be all over the place tonight.
