While I am solidly in the Vince Young camp, we really have little chance of getting him. Of the draft-able players that we have a chance at, I am the most interested in LenDale White. That being said, my suggestion for the QB situation this year is to pick up LeCharles Bentley and the guy he has worked with the past few years, Aaron Brooks.

This is from an article by Brent Jones, that addresses the Ravens situation, but I think it is every bit as relevant for us as it is for them:

“I just think sometimes you have to take a chance, and Aaron Brooks definitely falls in that category. He is a high-risk, high-reward guy who is a complainer. That actually helps the Ravens. Because of Brooks’ faults, he won’t command much money on the free agent market.

The Saints basically told him to get lost at the end of the season because of his bad attitude. But Joe Horn mouthed off as well, and the whole ordeal with New Orleans and their situation had everyone on edge. Here is what Brooks can give you:

From 2001-2003, he threw for more than 3,500 yards each year, and his touchdown-interception ratio was 77-45. He also has completed better than 55 percent of his passes in all but one his six playing seasons. And he has rushed for 13 career touchdowns, bringing far more speed and elusiveness than any available quarterback and even Boller.

Granted, Brooks only led the Saints to one playoff year taking over for Jeff Blake in 2000, but questionable defenses and coaches had as much to do with that as him. His attitude is somewhat similar to Blake's, but Blake was older and set in his ways, while Brooks will be just 30 at the start of next season.

My point is if you can rehab his personality (and there has been a lot of that going on around the Ravens recently), I think the guy has the most upside of any QB out there.”

As for me, I think that Warner is struggling to pass his physical. And, whether he passes it or not, I am also sure that the Cards have to be concerned about his injuries and age. My plan would be to get Brooks for a very reasonable price, let Navarre and Davey battle it out for #2, and draft Omar Jacobs if he is available in the 3rd.

Last year, when I first started posting, one of my posts won the coveted “Stupidest Post of the Year” Award. This might fall into the same category, but personally I think it has some merit.

Of course the Cards can feel free to continue to ignore my advice.

Where have you heard that Warner is struggling to pass his physical??

As for Brooks, I had to put up with a guy like that in Plummer. I'll pull my brains out through my ears if Brooks is the QB.

I like the idea of getting a healty Warner. With a year with the WR group under his belt, he should only get better. Add a better OL and some (please any) kind of running game and he should look really good.

Now, if the team does go the Warner route, my problem is... He will get injured. I do not see him going an entire season without injury. I expect him to miss 4 or 5 games. So, the Cards will need to bring in a backup QB thats ready to step up. I do not believe Navare or Davey are ready.

Sounds like Brooks makes some mistakes, but the listed TD-INT ratio sounds pretty good. He'd probably have a better shot a lasting the season, so a top quality backup QB would not be needed. He would cost less than Warner. But, he would not have the experience with the Cards WRs that Warner does. So, for me, Brooks might be plan B.

Neither Brooks or Blake are good LEADERS. Blake is a good technician. Brooks has loads of talent. But a great QB is a GENERAL. With either of those two you need somebody else on the Offense (or the Coach) to be the "General" and just let those other guys "execute". Gradkowski is one of those "born leader" characters. Snatching him in the 3rd round could pay dividends.

AB scares me. I can already hear the callers to XTRA Sports, "the Cardinals signed another retread loser." I have to admit that I know little about his tendencies, so I have no idea as to whether he woud work here.

if we are going to go the non rookie route, i want a guy who hasnt already proved to be a bum at this level....i like Brooks physical skills, but like his cousin Vick (and with half the athleticism) he is not a leader at all and is mentally fragile....he has had the benfits of good weapons, a good line and yet somehow he seems to implode....he Jake Plummer with a better arm....we dont need to go throught that again....

Yet i dont think going for a guy who has been in the league is a bad idea at all. I just want a guy who has been groomed by someone else for a couple years and is ready to break out given the opportuinty (ala Matt Hasselbeck and Jake Delhomme)

My list goes like this....Matt Schaub, Phillip Rivers, and Matt Cassell (guys trust me on this....a stronger armed Tom Brady...with out all the Super Bowl rings of course;) )

if we go for the guys who need a change of scenery my list starts and ends with David Carr and Culpepper.....

You either pass the physical or you do not. I doubt Warner has any issues or we would be hearing about them. Our issue will be will we sign him? We do not need to ***** foot around on this or else we will once again be starting another used QB.

Jacob is huge gamble and not a very good fit for our Offense IMO. Brody Croyle in the 2nd round.

I like Croyle, but I don't think you'd need to use a #2 to get him.
