Not only did the Canucks win on the scoresheet, but they were also the better team on the analytics side. Vancouver held a 34-26 even-strength scoring chances advantage while also winning the even-strength high-danger scoring chances battle 16-9. Overall, the Canucks did a great job of generating scoring chances at even-strength, finishing the night with an xGF% of 55.8%.
As for the heatmap, it shows how both teams were able to generate chances from in tight. Casey DeSmith stopped six of the eight high-danger shots he faced, while Thatcher Demko went five for five on the night. In the end, only one of the one of the ten goals scored on a goaltender came from distance, with all others coming between the faceoff dot and the net.

Looking at standouts, Quinn Hughes was once again dominant for Vancouver. During his 23:48 of even-strength ice time, the Canucks held a 9-3 high-danger scoring chances advantage while also outscoring their opposition 3-1. Hughes also produced two assists and didn't leave the ice during overtime as he helped keep Vancouver's slim playoff hopes alive for another night.
To wrap things up, the overtime hero, Kiefer Sherwood, had an impressive evening. During his 10:13 of even-strength ice time, the Canucks outshot their oppositon 8-5 and held a 5-1 high-danger scoring chances advantage. Whether it is hitting or scoring big goals, Sherwood has delivered all season and has turned into arguably the best signing for the 2024 off-season.
