For sure, the best rivalry in the history of the game is Celtics-Lakers..

But after today's game,I was thinking again that there's no better rivalry than Suns-Spurs.Most likely the NBA finals will be less exciting.

Anyone agrees?

In my opinion, in order to have a "rivalry", you have to be able to beat the team in a series. So far, there is no real rivalry- just San Antonio Spurs kicking our asses, year after year.

it's not a rivalry until we beat them in a series.

I think that the Suns-Lakers is a better rivalry. Or at least as a Suns fan I get more pleasure out of watching the Suns beat the Lakers.

No worries man,I see so many fans are upset,I almost threw my TV,but I know we will eliminate them,if we get 4 in a row now and win the series 4-1,it won't surprise me.

I love beating the Spurs better but since the Lakers are better this year,I think I'll have equal satisfaction,I'd like to see Suns-Lakers Western finals, which is most likely to happen

I agree, except that I think it will take 6 games. We lost today, but we basically dominated the entire game. Amare in particular screwed up some big plays, Spurs hit some lucky shots, and we lost the game, but we clearly looked like a superior team. I really think this team will destroy the Spurs this year.

Yep,if we played like today,we will win 99 out of 100,so Spus used theirs already.Plus,we didn't play our best game at all

doesn't it bother you that even when we look like a superior team WE STILL CAN'T BEAT THEM?

Against a team as good as the Spurs, you just can't piss away golden opportunities on the road to get a W, especially with how relatively pathetic this team has been protecting their own home-court in the playoffs throughout... well... the entire franchise's history.

Amare played better than he has against them offensively all year, Nash had a great game, Bell did more against them then he usually does, Boris actually showed up for a half and Barbs played better against them than he normally does. Shaq didn't. Do you expect all of the above to continue happening? We played pretty damn well today and still lost. Don't fool yourself into thinking the Spurs gave it their all. They were down the entire game and still won.

Amare always plays well against the Spurs.

In a game that Barbosa coming from the bench and being the Suns' top rebounder,I know we can have much better games. We can make better threes,Shaq can crontibute to boards,a healthy Hill can make some shots.
Nash has better games against the Spurs in the past.

They won but they know we re capable of stealing there, and I don't see Sours stealing any game in Arizona.

It does bother me. I can not even describe how upset I am with the Suns right now, especially Amare. They had so many opportunities to put this game away that it's not even funny.

Having said that, I am still optimistic because I am seeing a pattern. Suns have completely dominated the Spurs in the last 3 games. I really think that Spurs' victory today was a fluke. It was just one of those games, proverbial basketball gods wouldn't let us win this one. Spurs were like a piece of crap that just wouldn't flush.

We'll see what happens, but as of right now, I really think that today was just one of those games. I will be surprised if Suns don't win by 15 points on tuesday.

not this year he hasn't/ 17.5 ppg and 6 rebounds before today.

you don't see the Spurs stealing any games in AZ? Our record against them in the playoffs the last three years is 1-5 at home against them. Is your response to that gonna be: Well, we didn't have Shaq! We did today and it was the same old same old.

Man,I am not a Shaq fan,I was even against the trade.

But when you look at last games against the Spurs, there's no reason to think like you, like they will easily dominate and sweep us

i didn't say dominate and sweep us. I think we have a hangover in Game 2, probably win Game 3 and then lose another close Game 4 because we're not mentally tough enough to beat them.

I was all for the trade and I love what Shaq's brought to the team, but besides him and Nash, the rest of this club is just soft or stupid. Now if Nash and Shaq were five years younger that wouldn't matter but their hearts/smarts can't overcome a team of mental midgets.

So Boston Red Sox vs NY Yankees wasn't a rivalry until just a few years ago? Or ASU-UA basketball wasn't a rivalry until this year? I think thats a weird standard to have.

I think Phoenix-LA is a better rivalry than Phoenix-San Antonio because it has more history. The cities have more of a proximity and a natural rivalry. The teams have gone back and forth through out the years, et cetera. D'Antoni hates Phil Jackson (see "07 Seconds or Less"). Especially with Shaq and Kobe now, that kind of kicks it up a notch.

We're 9-16 (36%) against the Spurs since Nash returned in 2004 (not counting game 1 of this playoff series). I don't think that's really a rivalry.

No Rivalry with these 2 teams. We own the Suns. But they are some fun match ups to watch though.

That ain't true. We just beat them twice in a row in the regular season and last years series was back and forth.

It's between the Mavs, Lakers and Spurs as far as who are biggest rivalry is. Right now it's the Spurms. But after we beat them, it might be the Lakers. :D

I am not into making predictions because anything can happen... and interesting memorable things always seem to happen between these two teams. Of course, I am rooting for the Suns but I will savor every peak and valley of this journey.

really? I think it's a standard most sports fans look at. How do you take an opponent seriously when you know they're ALWAYS going to lose? ASU-UofA football is a rivalry because they regularly ruin each other's season, but are you serious with basketball?
