Is this movie a comedy or a musical?

I have had two friends and my wife who have all said this was terrible. Slow and boring is how they described it actually. So while I initially wanted to see it. I will be waiting for video.

I know someone who saw it and said it turned into a love story out of nowhere half way through.. I will be skiping this.. Would have skipped it anyway.. Anytime the word "musical" is attached to a movie I run far away from it..

The reason I ask is this was nominated for the comedy/musical award for the Golden Globe including best move, actor, and actress. I didn't get the vibe in the trailers that it was a comedy.

The Golden Globes are a freakin joke. There is no reason to really watch them except this year Ricky Gervais is hosting so it should be a little amusing but the awards themselves are terrible.

Only reason I would see, but I don't think you can capture the coolness of Venice on film.

Nope. Been to Venice three times, and I have yet to find any movie/tv show that can accurately portray it. I suppose Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Dangerous Beauty are the best. ;)

"Summertime" with Katherine Hepburn. 1955. Warning: It's a total chick flick but it was filmed on location in Venice. She fell into a canal in one scene (doing her own stunt) and had eye problems for the rest of her life because of it. You can smell Venice in that movie. One of my favorites. It shows up on TCM every so often.

I love Venice.

Good movie that one, I thought. We recently stayed a couple "blocks" from where she fell in. Good times.

Totally forgot about Summertime. I know of it, but have never seen it.

The best movies are when the city becomes another character. See "Roman Holiday" and "Charade". More recently, "The International" does a great job with that.

Love Venice.

I proposed in St. Marks square. The hour long walks with my now wife are some of the best memories I have.

Florence is a close second.

Getting lost in Venice rules.

Florence is great, too.

I still like Rome the best. Feels like home.
