It was also the piazza near Ca Rezzonico that had some of the best gelato ever at a place called Grom. Yum.

I stay away from St. Marks. Too many tourists off the cruise ships. My Venetian friends yell at me if I eat anywhere around there.

I proposed in St. Marks square. The hour long walks with my now wife are some of the best memories I have.

That is wonderful!

First time I saw it: 19 years old on a backpacking trip through Europe with my future husband. Dusk. One of the orchestras in SMS was playing "The Lonely Bull". I knew next to nothing about Venice. Walked into the Square and there it all was. Most beautiful place I'd ever seen. I cried. It was pitiful.

I'm jealous, it's been a long, long time since I've been there, a few days in each summer of 86, 87 and 88. I still remember it vividly, even though I was only 13 years old the last time I was there.

not a fan of Italy. when i went there back in 2000, everything and I mean EVERYTHING was either closed or had scaffolding due to renovations all over it. It became a running joke between my cousin and at a certain point, the only pictures we kept taking were those of us registering mock shock and dismay that yet ANOTHER historical artifact was off limits to the public. I mean, even historical fountains had no water running through them.

Only place in Italy that's near and dear to my heart was Cinque Terre. That is the most beautiful spot on the planet and I laid my ten year old Tevas to rest in the crystal blue water below while hiking through Riomaggiore.

oh, and going to Venice with your cousin... yeah... not exactly the person you want to experience one of the most romantic cities in the world unless you're into the whole gay incest thing.

Rome was just too Chaotic for me. Talk about a city in dire need of order.

I'll take the Rialto Bridge and Ponte Vecchio any day of the week.

Never been to Venice, but its on my todo list. I adored Florence and was very taken with several smaller cities like Arezzo and Sienna. Rome was too much in too short a time and I was coming down w/a cold, but I'd like to have time to explore.

But...how's the flick?

Ehhh.... Wait for Blu-Ray IMO

Generally a stinker..... 1 out of 5 stars..... Slow, plodding, an immediately "guessable" plot surprise, and generally not much to look at, in spite of the locales. 2 hours I'll never get back.....

I'm glad I ignored most of the reviews here. My wife and I just watched it and we both enjoyed it. I doubt that it would have held up in a theater but watching it in a relaxed setting with lowered expectations and we were pleased with it. It doesn't break any new ground but if you enjoy the style and pacing of some of the lighter Hitchcock movies you might want to give it a try.
