Anyone watch this series when it was on Showtime? I tried searching for a thread, however I couldn't find one.

They have all the seasons streaming on Netflix, and my wife and I have been enjoying the first two seasons. I've always been fascinated by the history of England and Europe, and this gives an interesting look into the Henry VIII reign. I think a lot of it is "hollywoodized" however it's still pretty fascinating to watch.

A fantastic TV series. I have all four seasons on DVD and love watching them. As long as people are aware that certain things have been altered for TV purposes. Some often wish to go and find out a little bit more, to see what really happened etc.

Still, a great show which was well cast and acted. The man who plays Charles Brandon (only real friend of Henry) is the new Superman and is also in a film coming out this year called The Immortals.

I like it. I am almost done with season 2. some of the acting is pretty bad (Anne Boleyn and, sometimes Henry VIII). But overall it is well done.

I just wish Henry VIII himself was better and a bit more of an imposing physical presence. He was supposed to be 6'1 and big.

But I still like it.

Exactly. A fantastic show, with some heavy historical inaccuracy. Doesn't mean it isn't a lot of fun.

Cool story about how Charles Brandon was in a position to be Henry's friend. Sir William Brandon, his father, was Henry VII's standard bearer when he invaded to claim his crown. He was supposedly knighted when Henry landed with his army, making his son a cherished 'noble' when William fell as the only casualty of real note at Bosworth--and fell to Richard III himself. That was the accepted historical fact of the day. Nowadays they say that he was only called 'sir' out of respect of his position. Who knows the truth?

I watched some of the episodes, but they weren't in order so it seemed out of whack to me.

I did watch the movie The Bolyen Sisters (with Scarlett Johanssen) which was excellent and more historically accurate.

We finished the series last night. An excellent series. I really liked the complexity of Charles Brandon's character. Reminded me of Titus Puollo's character from Rome.

I really wish they could have found a way to extend the series, going forward with Eduard as King, and then to Mary and Elisabeth.

Started watching this on Netflix. Made it through the first 3 episodes. It's pretty good so far. Lots of hot chicks topless so it's aready got that going for it. Have to watch it after the kids go to bed so it's slow going.
