Wow.. this will be (unless someone manages to post a thread before this one surfaces) the 1000th thread in ths forum.... Thanks to everyone who has contributed.....

I thought it would be fitting to post the 1000th on one of my favorite 90s Britpop bands (would have to rank them up there with Blur, Radiohead, Cornershop, and Gomez as my faves) Verve and also their leader, Richard Ashcroft, who since the band broke-up in '99 has managed a successful solo career of his own....

I've always loved Verve's music... "A Storm In Heaven" and "A Northern Soul" were 2 brilliant albums, but their masterpiece was by far "Urban Hymns"... True.. "Bittersweet Symphony" got played out on both the radio and MTV (and also in t.v. ads), but it was well worth it.... Just several other highlights on that album.. from "Come On" to "The Drugs Don't Work" it was quite a remarkable album, but my absolute favorite track is "Catching The Butterfly"....Second favorite song is "Sonnet"... As always Ashcroft demonstrated how gifted he is with lyrics and soundscapes......

Ashcroft solo.. he continued his brilliance with both "Alone With Everybody" and "Human Conditions".... I just enjoy how deep/emotional his lyrics are.. Just very confessional and puts a lot into proper perspective... His lyrics arent just relevant to his own trials/tribulations, but can pretty much speak for everyone who has endured grief/melancholy in their lives for an extended period of time... also.. he's reaffirming in the process that there's always some new hope....

Anyways.. who else enjoys the Verve and has listened to Ashcroft's solo work? If you havent... I highly suggest both....

Here's the Verve and Richard Ashcroft official sites (just click on both links).....

Both the Verve and Richard Ashcroft solo is just compelling/riveting.. just always makes one think....

You're not the only one to make that mistake....

Lord.. you might have created an interesting thread idea on how many bands with somewhat the same name have caused so much confusion.... There's of course those who say Savage Garden instead of Soundgarden (or vice-versa) and that's one of the worst insults ever...(well.. obviously to Soundgarden)....

Anyways.. it was the Verve Pipe who performed "The Freshman" and "Photograph"....

Click on this link to watch a few of the Verve's video and also this link that as some of Ashcroft's solo songs along with some from when was with the Verve and also this video link...

Well, the Verve have reunited. In fact, today they just provided http://www.nme.com a 14-minute sample from what they call their "Thaw Session"..... Here's the link:

It reminds me of their earlier work. People tend to remember them for "Bittersweet Symphony", however, that wasn't even their best song (off of their magnum-opus, "Urban Hymns"), but this is very innovative and full of absolute potential.

I rank this w/Radiohead as the best music out there on the market (well, this won't be available in final form for another year at least, but it doesn't hurt to listen to their prior releases), it's something that everyone must check-out.
