We aren't for real. Right now we are not winning a playoff game. I personally think that having a 4 game lead in the division is the problem. Our team doesn't play with much heart, or any kind of passion. We should have treated this game like it was the last game of the year like we did in 1998. We have a problem...More than just our defense :bang: :mulli:

Vegas, baby, yeah!
Agreed - we have major problems - and it goes back to basics. Tackling. Special teams coverage. Catching passes. We have a lot of work to do.

I thought we played with a great deal of heart against NYG, though I see your point. there is a certain amount of complacency. I think the philly game has shaken out the cobwebs and it also gives the coaches a clear view of what teams will do to stop us. We have 9 days to rest and prepare now....
we will be fine, keep the faith :D

I agree if they listen to the last two broadcasts, the coaches were TOLD what they need to do.

1. Don't tip off run/pass so easily
2. Put more in the box and play aggressive, instead of passive

At some point we need to lose because the above two things didn't work. Until then we are losing games because we aren't maximizing our talent, and/or giving other teams an advantage.

Not too hard to beat a team that gives your wr 10-20 yard cushions
Not too hard to beat a team that lets you know 10-20 seconds before the snap whether it's a run or a pass

Both have been killing us. Take those two things away, and we take the next step.

When you're only one step away, imo, it could be big.

Its also hard to play on a thursday after just playing the superbowl champions, but other teams have done it and won. So i don't know if we can use that as an excuse

Don't worry we will destroy the Rams

the fact that you can type that sentence with upmost confidence and still see things as disasterous, we're still a joke, coach needs to be fire, etc. etc. is dumbfounding to me.

it's like you forget that this team was horrific for decades and should be winning Super Bowls and going undefeated IMMEDIATELY. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither are most football teams.

that's not to say everything's perfect. of course it's not. there's still some BIG problems on this team, but if we do as you expect we will next week, we'll be 8-5, which will mean we will have already gotten to where we were last year with three games to go, which was 3 games better than the previous year.

Heck, I was as frustrated as the next guy after Thursday' game, but we need to keep perspective (not always easy for fans, I know).

We will be in the playoffs for the first time in 10 years, and hosting a playoff game, I believe, since the team was in freakin' Chicago!

At least we will have a chance, merely by being in the playoffs. Lots of fans would love to be in our shoes.

All the reactionary "bench Warner!", "demote the coordinators!" people need to re-read the history of this franchise and adjust their expectations accordingly. At least for this season.

seriously guys. most teams have four stages. Joke (what we always are), up and coming (8-8 or 7-9 squad), pretender (playoff team that no one really buys) and then contender. We're at step 3 of that process just as most teams usually are.

I think the problem is that at after we started 2-2, we went on a really impressive 4 game run where we blew the crap out of a previously undefeated team, we then beat a hated team who everyone said was a Super Bowl lock, played a really solid game but lost on the road against another Super Bowl contender, then blew the crap out of a bad Rams team, but did it on the road, something we hadn't done in forever. That stretch probably sent some of us (me included) a little too sky high. We're not as good as that stretch indicated but we're not as bad as the Eagles game or lackluster showings against SF indicated. We're somewhere in the middle, which is right around where we should be for a second year coach who inherited the joke of pro sports.

now, if we're not for real next year or take steps back then I can see people getting upset to the tune of firings and rants and whatnot. but this year? just seems silly to me considering all the crap we've been, especially knowing that most teams in the NFL take a couple years to truly build into perenial contenders.

Great point...

That stretch made the expectations rise a little too high.

Before the season everyone here basicly agreed that this team was going to win 9-11 game. Right now we looking at a 10 - 6 record IMO. We are who we thought we were... :)
