Johnson was one of the best free safties in college this past year. An excellent pick. Start grooming someone to take Rolle's place when his contract expires.

Mel Kiper was raving about this kid. Called him a steal, a legitimate first-round talent taken at the end of the third round. He'll be our third down nickle safety taking Aaron Francisco's role sometime next season, and should contribute on special teams.

This is a target of opportunity IMO. Just an excellent selection by Whis and Rod. This should bolster the pass defense and the kid should supplant Matt Ware on the roster. Remember Matt's struggles on special teams in the Giants game last year.

This is a classic case of upgrading your roster with an opportunity pick. Great job.

Well said. I will write a lot more later about Johnson and all the Cardinals' picks, but let me suffice it to say quickly here that adding FS Rashad Johnson at #95 is one of the smartest Cardinal draft picks possibly ever.

The Cowboys are sure going to regret passing on this kid...both in the draft and in person on game day. Right place at the right time...and you can't teach that.

First legitimate cover FS the Cardinals have had since who knows when???

BPA is the best way to go. Even if there are bigger needs now. You are not drafting for now. If you take BPA EVERY year, your team should be filled with quality players at all positions. Then you fill your needs with free agents.

Now a zone package doesn't seem so bad with Rolle, AW, DRC, McFadden and Johnson. Go six and you add Hood. This gives AW an opportunity to be a monster and gets Rolle in position to get more picks. We all know what that results in.

Johnson could allow the Cards to roll Wilson up to linebacker in nickel packages which would give us even more speed on the field.

Macho Harris still being on the board is a bit surprising.

The experts seem to like this pick for us. Having Johnson instead of AF on the field is definitely an upgrade.

3 good picks so far IMO.

This makes sense if he performs this season in a backup roll, then supplants Antrell next year when he's going to want a new 6M+/season contract. I think we'll let him go if that is going to be his asking price, which I think it will be.

I really like the 1st and 3rd round picks, Cody Brown looked good at the senior practices, we'll see.

Wilson can blitz more with this guy in coverage

Bingo. We just upgraded our pass rush with this move. This will free up Adrian to be that blitzing guy off the edge, we've all been saying we need in this draft.

Now we can actually let Adrian blitz, and not have to worry about a clueless Francisco filling in behind him

He said legit.....

There's probably no better coverage safety when it comes to playing in the box or shading 10 deep, but in isolation he shows why he struggled at QB... for now.

BUT, as Rolle adjusts to the angles of his position he's gonna start hawking deep.
