Johnny Manziel’s regular-season CFL debut could be coming soon. Following Manziel’s trade Sunday from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to the Montreal Alouttes, head coach Mike Sherman introduced the 2014 first-round draft pick Monday, noting the quarterback may have an opportunity to play in the not-so-distant future. “This is quite a short week,” Sherman said, per ESPN. “We’ll just see how the week plays out. I don’t want to put added pressure on him and I want everybody else to get ready to play. We’ll just play it out during the course of the week.” Manziel, 25, who signed a two-year deal with Hamilton in May, was the No. 2 quarterback on the Tiger-Cats’ depth chart behind starter Jeremiah Masoli.
