Remember Ray Horton's first game as our DC? The rookie Cam Newton threw for 422 yards in his first career game and the Panthers had ~500 yards of total offense.

Give it a little bit of time.

Also, count me among the people who think DWash would have made a significant difference. He's our best defender, and he helps elevate the three things that killed us most today: pass rush, running with a TE when necessary, and limiting the damage in the RAC of short completions.

Far and away the number one reason for this defeat rests with Levi Brown. It didn't help that Javier Arenas made two bonehead decisions and coughed up fumble. It didn't help that Jay Feely again missed a very makeable field goal. It didn't help that the Cardinals one-on-one tackling was the worst I saw in a day of channel surfing around the NFL. Just pathetic. It didn't help that the Cardinal safeties played poorly.

Three things this game confirmed to me.

1. The Cardinals do not have the left tackle to be competitive in the NFC West.
2. The Cardinals need to address place kicker in the offseason, preferably by using a draft choice to upgrade the position.
3. Without a much better pass rush, the Cardinal secondary is Swiss cheese.

Gator, you make a good point about DW. However, the good news is that he only has three more games to sit out. The bad news is that the NFL might want to extend the punishment depending on his court case.
