It was only like a punt cuz of a penalty n the one when we were in fg range in the 2nd

we gave up the chance to score 3 points on one.

one they knelt down on.

the other was deep in their territory and the d should have held.

lindley's picks were irrelevant to the score. he also threw two TDs.

It is not like he turned the ball over in their red zone leading to easy scores. That did NOT happen.

the d got their asses handed to them, and then got served some leftover ass for good measure.

The Kelly penalty gave the 9ers a TD instead of a FG. There's 4 points and the ballgame.

It was on a lot of things. The D definitely sucks ass now, and no way Bowles deserves a head coaching gig. That said Lindley is really, really bad. Another game where we ran it decently, but Bruce kept throwing. His red zone play calling is atrocious as well. So many holes in our team, in both personnel and game plan. We are at our worst when it matters most.

If your 4th string QB puts up 17 points and your D can't bring in the win, you don't deserve to be called a good d.

It doesn't matter who's playing qb if you cant score 21 you can't win in today's nfl

3 points would make it a 20-20 point game n ot

One of the picks was essentially 3 points. I'm not disagreeing that the D could have won this game for us if they did play better, but so could our QB with better results on a few plays. Hard for any team to win with 3 picks.

Lindley gave us more than we all expected. It was our first 2 offensive TD game since the Lions game. The defense crapped the bed when they were needed most. Case in point, Lindley marched the team down field on the opening kickoff and led the offense to a TD taking all the air out of the stadium and what does the defense do? Give up a 76 yard TD right away. They had a chance to really smack the 9ers and instead gave them life. Then, with a 17-13 lead Lindley does throw a bad pick but the 9ers are backed up to the 11. Time for the defense to shut the door but do they? Nope. They let them drive 89 yards which included 2 stupid drive saving penalties, to take the lead. Can't blame the QB on either of those scores.

Lindley played his best game. Maybe the best he can play. But it's not good enough.

The D is sucking fat ass. But honestly, I posted stats at the halfway point showing that the D has given up yards all year. Eventually teams are going to convert those yards into points.

Our D isn't as good as people think it is.

We didn't score in the second half tho when the game mattered most

Lindley threw two touchdown passes in a single game and we still lost. Let that sink in.

The D has really played poorly in the last few games. I don't know what has happened to them. Wide open receivers and poor tackling. Giving up huge plays. Letting the QB run all over the place. There is no excuse for that.

Apparently those don't matter?

They do matter but two of them were throw into niner territory so its not as if he set them up for easy scores. Lindley had never thrown a td before today and if someone had told me he would have two today (thus matching as many offensive tds as we've had in the last five games combined) I figured we would win.

Scary thing about Lindley is his 2 TDs are as good as he's ever going to do. I doubt he can improve on that. But his INTs aren't things I think you can fix. He just stares dudes down and makes bad decisions and it's not something you can fix in a week. IMO it's more likely he throws the INTs next week than the TDs.

Yep Lindley had the best game of his career (though he was still bad) and yet the defense couldn't take advantage of it against a team that had little to play for.

Against a panthers team that has alot to play for next week we can really even expect even one td pass?

I dont know we're up at half and only give up 7 points in the second half. I would think the inability to score in the second half cost us this game more then anything.

The defense definitely underperformed today but it would have been nice if the offense didn't leave points on the board and didn't put the defense in bad field position. That takes pressure off of a defense under enormous pressure since Palmer went down.

If anybody thinks that this defense isn't feeling the effects of the last several weeks they are kidding themselves. This appears to be a defense hitting the wall because of the lack of production for several weeks from it's offense.

Not that I am excusing this defense one bit for it's failings today but Lindley is no starting QB. He threw some very untimely interceptions and missed open guys that would have taken some pressure off this defense under siege.

Put the blame on anything you want. BUT, if the defense had played like they have for most of the season we would have won today.

This, and if the strength of your team is defense... then the offense spotting you 17 points against a struggling Niner team is more than enough :)
