This week's Blue Federal Credit Union Athlete of the Week award is headed to the lacrosse field for the first time this year.
Poudre School District boys lacrosse's Colton Pawlak took top honors in the Fort Collins area for the week of March 31-April 5 after a huge all-around performance.
The attacking midfielder was all over the field as a key difference maker in a 10-6 win over Fairview, scoring six goals with an assist, four ground-ball pickups and two forced turnovers.
Pawlak (a University of Denver lacrosse signee) has been one of Colorado's top players throughout his high school career, making CHSAA's 5A all-state teams in each of his first three seasons.
The Stars senior has 14 goals and three assists this season despite missing three of eight games. PSD is 3-2 when he plays and 0-3 without him (as of Thursday, April 10).
Pawlak is the fifth district athlete to win the award this school year, joining PSD girls wrestlers Mariah Gonzalez and Emory Little plus PSD ice hockey players Hayden Stolz and London Salmela.
Stars fans made their votes count, earning Pawlak a heavy majority of the vote at 65.6%.
That ultimately earned him Athlete of the Week over these other outstanding nominees:
