Seahawks and Rams fans have to be feeling a whole lot worse than us, mainly because they are USE to winning. They are EXPECTING to be winning. Many "experts" picked THEM to be winning teams.

My friends, the Seahawks and Rams are in trouble. Both teams have had glaring weaknesses exposed. They are getting blown out on a regular basis. I'm not saying we are better than them(not at this point), but neither of those teams strike fear in anybody's heart anymore.

When I say lets go out and win the division, ponder this.

First of all, indeed , Navarre is going to have to somehow ignite this offense and the offensive line must rally around him, knowing he is a pocket passer. And of coarse we will have to beat the Rams and Seahawks ( not as daunting of a task as we once thought) when we play them.

Heres the kicker. Eight and eight could very well win this division. Hers why.

Going on the assumption that we hold up our part and beat those 2 scrubs would make the Seahawks 6-6 and the Rams 5-7.

First the Seahawks. Aside form Dallas and us, they must play( are you ready for this?) at Minnesota, at the Jets, and the Falcons. Those teams have a combined record of 24-9 !!! Not unreal to assume they could lose 2 out of those 3 games. Thus an 8-8 record and WE would hold the tiebreaker.

Now the Rams. Beside Frisco and us, they must go visit the surging Panthers, and then host the Eagles and the Jets. Not unreal to assume they could lose 2 of those games and end up 7-9. Even if the lose only one of those games to finish at 8-8, we would have to beat them by 9 pts. in our meeting to gain control of the tiebreaker.

My point is if we take care of business, we control our own destiny. It's been a long time since we could talk about things like this at this time of year.
That being said, there are many things that we must accomplish as a team. There is nothing to make us believe that we are on the brink of winning except hope beyond hope. It's borderline absurd to think John Navarre is going to go out Sunday and turn this offense into some kind of scoring machine. It's unbridled fantasizing that something like that could happen to this cursed franchise. And whether its us catching up to the rest of the pack or the rest of the pack coming back to us, so what. So what!

But what if.............?

I like your optimism. I'm kind of on the fence. As much as I'd love to see us get into the playoffs, we'd get smoked in the first round. At this point, I almost wouldn't mind losing the rest of the games to get us in good draft position. One more really good draft like last year could put us over the top.
On the other hand, I hate seeing them lose, so I'm with ya. GO CARDS!!!

The Cards had their chance long ago. Wake up, do you actually think the Cards can win 4-1?

Intreasting read slan. I guess we are just going to have to see how it unfolds in the last few weeks. This situation certainly isn't far fetched.

One things for sure. We need a win in the worst way. Just so we here at ASFN can relax a bit.

Kool-aid minds think alike!!!

Slaindrac glad I saw your post, I was about to start a thead along the same lines. But (with another chug of Big Red Kool-aid) I''ll go even further out on that limb...

7-9 could win the NFC West. What the Cardinals MUST DO is beat St. Louis by more than 8 pts. and beat Seattle and San Francisco.
Another loss in the Division and the Cardinals will be out of it unless the Lambs lose to SF in St. Louis (not likely).

A week by week scenario (one of many possibilities):

Dec. 5th
Cardinals lose vs. DET 4-8
Hags win vs. DAL 6-6
Lambs win vs. SF 6-6

Dec. 12th
Cardinals win vs. SF 5-8
Hags lose at MIN 6-7
Lambs lose at CAR 6-7

Dec. 19th
Cardinals win vs. StL 6-8
Hags win at NYJ 7-7
Lambs lose at ARI 6-8
Cardinals must beat St. Louis by 8 or more

Dec 26th
Cardinals win at SEA "Merry Christmas!" 7-8
Hags lose vs. ARI 7-8
Lambs lose vs. PHI 6-9

Jan. 2nd
Cardinals lose vs. TB 7-9 :hulk:
Hags lose vs. ATL 7-9
Lambs win vs. NYJ 7-9

Cardinals would win the Division at 7-9!!! It could happen :GULP:.
:cards: :cards: :cards:

This can't be both. I suspect you meant hags lose at NYJ 6-8

Corrected! I knew I would screw it up somewhere!

Actually what I meant was Hags win at NYJ 7-7 and Hags lose vs. ARI 7-8.

The variables are multitude at this juncture... the point is if Cardinals win the remaining games in their division and the Hags and Lambs maintain status quo, Cardinals could win the division with a 7-9 record!

Cardinals lose vs. DET 4-8
Hags win vs. DAL 6-6
Lambs win vs. SF 6-6

Hags win vs. Dallas would make them 7-5, because they are 6-5 right now. But that's o.k. They'll lose @ NYJ, so it all works out the same!!!!

How bout, let's just win a road game, convincingly, before we mention the P word anymore? The Card's have two of them left and unless they perform much better than they did in the first six, the playoffs are a moot point.

They either learn how to win on the road Sunday, or kiss their season goodbye.

Unfortunately, when you need a fairly specific scenario to unfold to make the playoffs, it rarely happens. All we can worry about is our own team. If we can't beat Seattle and St. Louis, it's not going to happen. If we do beat them, we still probably won't make it, but it will be a nice springboard to next year. I'm sick of losing to the Rams. If we fight our way back to 7-9, have a winning second half, and beat the Rams--playoffs be damned, I'm going to be pretty happy about this year.
