Seahawks and Rams fans have to be feeling a whole lot worse than us, mainly because they are USE to winning. They are EXPECTING to be winning. Many "experts" picked THEM to be winning teams.
My friends, the Seahawks and Rams are in trouble. Both teams have had glaring weaknesses exposed. They are getting blown out on a regular basis. I'm not saying we are better than them(not at this point), but neither of those teams strike fear in anybody's heart anymore.
When I say lets go out and win the division, ponder this.
First of all, indeed , Navarre is going to have to somehow ignite this offense and the offensive line must rally around him, knowing he is a pocket passer. And of coarse we will have to beat the Rams and Seahawks ( not as daunting of a task as we once thought) when we play them.
Heres the kicker. Eight and eight could very well win this division. Hers why.
Going on the assumption that we hold up our part and beat those 2 scrubs would make the Seahawks 6-6 and the Rams 5-7.
First the Seahawks. Aside form Dallas and us, they must play( are you ready for this?) at Minnesota, at the Jets, and the Falcons. Those teams have a combined record of 24-9 !!! Not unreal to assume they could lose 2 out of those 3 games. Thus an 8-8 record and WE would hold the tiebreaker.
Now the Rams. Beside Frisco and us, they must go visit the surging Panthers, and then host the Eagles and the Jets. Not unreal to assume they could lose 2 of those games and end up 7-9. Even if the lose only one of those games to finish at 8-8, we would have to beat them by 9 pts. in our meeting to gain control of the tiebreaker.
My point is if we take care of business, we control our own destiny. It's been a long time since we could talk about things like this at this time of year.
That being said, there are many things that we must accomplish as a team. There is nothing to make us believe that we are on the brink of winning except hope beyond hope. It's borderline absurd to think John Navarre is going to go out Sunday and turn this offense into some kind of scoring machine. It's unbridled fantasizing that something like that could happen to this cursed franchise. And whether its us catching up to the rest of the pack or the rest of the pack coming back to us, so what. So what!
But what if.............?
