I've heard this song somewhere before.... Although, I love that he injured himself during his physical. I guess if you can break your hand answering the phone, anything's possible:

From another board as reported by Chicago Radio:

Post 1 (From PFT)
One of our readers has informed us that Chicago's WSCR The Score is reporting that Bears running back Thomas Jones is not in pads and is not practicing today. No news from the Bears about a possible injury ... or does it involve a contract dispute? More coming.

Post 2 (from Score's website)
Injured Jones sits out training camp opener

By Larry Mayer
July 27, 2006

The much-anticipated training camp competition at running back will have to wait.

Veteran Thomas Jones missed the first practice Thursday after straining his hamstring during his physical earlier in the day.

Jones, who skipped the voluntary portion of the Bears offseason program, will open camp on the physically unable to perform list.

Jones is eligible to be removed from the list at any time during camp

670 The Score is now reporting he will miss around 6 weeks

During his physical?

Is he trying to one-up Tommy Knight?

:lmao:

I'm sure Cedric Benson isn't heartbroken about this, he'll probably be the starter on opening day and as long as he plays well it's his job to keep.

What a douche. I've had a lot of physicals in my life, how the hell do you hurt yourself? Thomas Jones always was & always will be a punk.

I'll bet you've never had a physical like they give to to see if you're healthy enough to play in the NFL.

Dude got hurt. How's that make him a douche?

The doctor must have gotten a little too out of hand or maybe went a little too far while performing the exam.

Hopefully the injury did not occur during that "turn and cough" part.

Yeah, Benson had a slim lead on the job. This really goes a long way towards cementing Lovie Smith's starting RB.

Certainly makes things easier on fantasy owners.

!!! Notice this post was written without reading a word of any of the posts in this thread !!!!

Let me guess he got a phone call. The Bears should have put it in his contract that Thomas Jones cannot use a phone.

Who on this board called him? Fess up.

he's the same guy that broke his hand supposedly answering a telephone. He also is the same guy that had a 'mysterious injury' that kept him from performing well in his rookie season, then the next season in training camp, he said he didn't think he'd completely healed & it might linger into the season. This was big news at the time & a lot of people on the board & on the radio thought he was faking injury to mask poor performance.

I've NEVER heard of anyone getting injured in a physical. Granted, I've never taken an NFL physical, but I have taken physicals in the past for sports & I have a decent understanding of what a player goes through during one. I have no idea how he could've hurt himself in a physical, & chances are he's doing this to avoid playing time or camp time.

For all his talent, he can't seem to stick with a team. For all his amazing 190 yard games he has from time to time, he can't seem to be a consistent back for anyone he plays for.

I stand by my comment on Thomas Jones.

Sportscenter's (and probably NFL Live's) coverage of it was quite enjoyable. They compared it to Brian Griese being downed by his dog among others. But even they didn't bring up the contact sport of phone answering.

I think you're right. I also think it's funny Denver is potentially trying to run an offense around Jake Plummer & Thomas Jones :D

All they need is Jason McAddley and they are golden.

Thomas Jones would quiet the doubters if he were playing in denver, IMO.

Eh, he needed to leave AZ, I agree. But, he's since become a different RB. Different, such as, now he's good.
