Only if Graves and Coach Mac want a six pack for the draft party, 'cuz that's all the Cardinals would get for him...

In my opinion, he'll be one of those June 1st cuts...

I apologize but...

Jones will not be traded because no team will want to trade for a player who will be cut June 1st.

I don't think he has much trade value. Maybe a 6th or 7th rounder if the Cardinals got lucky. I didn't live here yet when Garrison Hearst played in Arizona. So I don't really know the story why the Cardinals got rid of him. His stats didn't look very good the first 2 years. His 3rd year he had over 1000 yards, but only 3.8 yards a carry. Any chance Jones could become the next Garrison Hearst elsewhere if he gets cut or traded? I think someone will take a flyer on Jones if he is released because of his game against the Seahawks.

Injury

Hearst had a injury situation (not a dinky hand injury either) which further caused the Cardinals to loose patience. I did not agree with his leaving at the time.

TJ may be traded, but he's not June 1st cap cut. Why? Because he is on the last year of his contract and it won't save the Cards anything on the cap by cutting him after june 1st.

Am I right? Is this TJ's last year?

Yes, this is Mr. Jones' last contract year with the Cards...

Correct. But he will be taking up a roster spot. I think we will try to trade him and get what we can. His attitude is soured.

However, maybe Emmitt can spark a fire under his rear...

If that is one thing I've heard about TJ, is that he makes the attempt to learn what he can for those above him on the depth chart.

Not because he's an excellent student, but so he can beat you and take your job. You have to like that kind of effort.

Has he even contacted the team, or been contacted by team officals since it was determined that he sacrificed the remainder of his salary last year?

Nope. He hasn't called the team, nor returned any phone calls.

Someone else had a great idea. Keep Thomas Jones, but bury him so far down the depth chart that everyone in the league will forget about him all together.

my thoughts on thomas from another thread...

I am torn on thomas jones...big decision for me on this one between..

1. I would like to see us make him drag his sorry ass up to training camp...make him play special teams in the 4th quarter of the preseason games (2 of which will be in extreme heat)..put him down for like 5th on the depth chart..and then make him a final roster cut so that it will be harder for him to hook up with another team...
or
2. but then again..with his piss poor attitude..we may as well cut him now and be done with it..would not want him making any converts on the team..

IMO that ranks as a "great idea" if cutting off your nose to spite your face sounds sensible...

how many times...

... did we see the O-line open a hole for Jones, then he hit it and before any defender touched him, he curled into the fetal position? I think he has a problem with the speed and strength of NFL defenses vs. college

Actually, mgmt took a risk with Hearst. He had a marginally big contract and put him on waivers in an attempt to resign him after the cut period.

However, the gamble back fired as Cincy picked him up...basically leaving us standing there with our sausages in our hands.
