Maybe Irvin finally gets it
Having children will do that, sometimes. Some will never catch on; Luis Sharpe comes to mind...
A couple of years ago, Michael Irvin came home one day to see his young son having posted on his computer a new screensaver – a photo of the former Dallas Cowboys receiver giving one of his famous “first-down” poses during a game.
Irvin was surprised. Where, he asked his son, did you get that picture?
“I googled you, Dad,” Irvin son replied, and Irvin’s heart hit the floor. This time, his son just found a photo. But there were so many shameful things Irvin had done that could be found through an Internet search.
But yeah, I agree; if Irvin is being honest in the linked article and not just fronting, sounds as though he really has changed his perspective. Good for him!

Maybe I'm a sucker for thinking so but Irvin's contrition seems genuine. I hate when a U player and a cowpuke sees the light. Destroys my righteous disdain.

Good on Michael Irvin.

Why is anyone even skeptical of what he is doing? How could the act not be genuine?

Oh, I don't know. Maybe because Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Bill Belichick, Michael Vick, Pacman Jones, Luis Sharpe, Ray Lewis, Bill Romanowski and countless other athletes have repeatedly lied, faked repentances and generally strained credulity beyond all limits.

Cynicism is my defense now. It would not surprise me in the least if Michael Irvin was arrested tomorrow for doing coke in a bathroom on his guided tour through Canton.

I could not agree with this more. I trust Irvin's intent about as much as I believe Michael Vick is truly sorry for what he did.

Since I first posted in this thread I have watched Irvin's HOF induction speech.
(Can be found at NFL videos - search Part two: Michael Irvin HOF speech)

I have to say, I do believe that Irvin has matured and changed his attitude and perspective on life.

But I still hate the Cowboys!...

Anyone who's starting to warm up to Irvin needs to listen to his radio show on ESPN 103.3 from 11-2 (Dallas time). He's the same guy he's always been. It is pretty comical hearing him try to talk baseball or really anything outside of football. He and Deion were always the best at putting up whatever front they wanted the world to see, all the while being the same creeps they really were.

But he is promoting something to make kids behave better and further understand tyhe consequences of their actions all while admitting his mistakes. How does that have anything to do with bonds, vick and etc? They all cheated or broke the law and lied not tried to help the kids.
