Some funky things have happened in the past 2 years "in the name of charity" is what Fiasco is probably saying. How many millions of donation dollars were swindled after Katrina (as an example). Some people use the donation thing to drive prices up with no intention to actually donate anything. Customers are moe willing to spend a higher amount if they believe it is going to charity.

it's not the past two years. don't kid yourself. swindling has been going on forever. but if you're gonna approach every potential charity as a potential fraud aren't you kind of defeating the purpose of giving freely? i understand that some skepticism is warranted, but bashing a guy who is claiming to donate before he's done any wrong is just, well, wrong.

The past two years were very public instances. Bashing before wrong (although you could debate if he is lying about the charity issue he has already commited a wrong) is, as you say, wrong. I was just offering an explaination why Fiasco may have been so negative towards the auction.

However why should the guy be required in your mind to give any money from his proceeds to anyone? They are his items which he has every right to sell as a private owner and make a profit off of regardless of how much.

I have an issue with making money off any SOLDIER that dies serving his country. You would be a little agitated too if some bum was trying to turn a profit on selling "beat used" police uniforms from police officers that died in the line of duty. That might be an overly extreme association, but crap like this irks me.

This is sports memorabilia though, and people sell this stuff from dead athletes all the time. I don't think this man is pissing on Pats Grave one bit. There is a demand for Tillman stuff and nobody disparaged the Cardinals when they started selling Pat Tillman jerseys again.

IF someone out there has such reverence for Pat that they are willing to dole out the $$ the guy is asking for, more power to them.

As long as they are not trying to trash Tillman, I see nothing wrong with this whatsoever.

I have a ton of signed Pat Tillman stuff, with Pics of him signing stuff etc. I don't make much money and when Pat was killed, I looked at what his stuff was going for on Ebay and it was for a good amount money. Could I have sold that stuff and I'm positive I could have fetched 8000 to 10,000 bucks on the stuff. There just is not alot of Pat stuff out there because who then besides us collects Cardinal crap. The week he was killed autographed stuff was going for big bucks, but the reason Pat died and is famous is because of a tragedy, I did not want to profit off of a tragedy.

Now here is where I see moral judment can go both ways. Ok say I collected Police stuff, I obtained memorabilia of a bunch of Cops from a certain Police station. Say one of the cops, volunteers as a Firefighter and dies on duty as a Firefighter. Now people are interested in buying some of This Firefighters cop memorabilia, Now if I would turn around and sell those items of this officer at a premium, I feel I would be profiting off a tragedy not cool.

But for this item, its being sold by somebody who sells a ton of crap on Ebay, this person is obviously someone who makes his living selling collectibles, I don't buy this whole moving or charity thing in the description. That was what the original owner probably said when this items were acquired by this seller and this guy didn't want to hear abunch of crap from people for selling Tillman stuff. I think its perfectly fine for this guy to sell Pats stuff, that is this dudes job and how he makes his money. But if it was somebody say from this board selling a bunch of stuff they collected of Pat to make a quick buck
That would be lame

He isnt making his money off of Tillman the soldier though. Hes making it off of Tillman the athlete and his athletic memorabillia. So I dont see what you mean really. The reason the items sell for so much is because of what tillman eventually sacraficed and the person he was. But none the less its his "sports memorabillia" not soldiers memorabillia.

First off why would anyone wanting to make a buck off of property they own outright be lame? Whether its a quick buck or long buck I dont see the difference? So is someone just supposed to sit on Tillman memorabillia for the rest of their natural lives just because you or others think it would be lame for them to make a buck? Sorry I just dont see the logic.
