Vanderbilt baseball's RJ Austin is dealing with a biceps and shoulder injury and that was the reason he wasn't in the lineup for the Commodores' series finale against Georgia, coach Tim Corbin said.

Austin also dealt with a shoulder injury in the fall, but this is a different injury. Corbin said the injury happened during a slide. He was originally removed from the game during the seventh inning of game 2 of the series.

Vanderbilt swept the series, which ended April 19, with wins by scores of 3-1, 13-7 and 5-2.

Austin has been mired in a slump. He is hitless in his last 25 at-bats dating back to the final game of the Florida series April 6. In that span, he does have one walk and has been hit by a pitch six times.

He is day-to-day.

"I think it's probably a good day to give him a rest," Corbin said. "He wasn't 100% today, bicep, shoulder, so he was very sore this morning. So ... he wanted to play. But we just decided to give him a day."
