i don’t think you remember last year accurately . . . Ulis did play well, but if I recall correctly, he was taking volume shots too.

Volume is a bit strong. 14.1/36 at .420; Booker 18.9/36 at .424; Bled 17.1/36 at .433; Knight 16.6 at .399 -- all from last year.

So he shot less than three guys who took the majority of shots. Now compare the number of shots he took down the stretch when Bledsoe was out and compare it to the rest of the team (not Bledsoe, Booker, or knight). i believe you’ll find he was more volume shooter than distributor in the classical senses of the words.

Great to see someone picking up the Bender bashing torch after slinslin. We need constant pessimism on a 19 yr old in every game thread.

Agreed. Way to early to bash 19 and 20 year old players.

I don't know how one gets that kind of a breakout. If that is the stats you're using why don't you show them. I believe most of Ulis's minutes were played during the time frame you selected. I was using the other guards on the team as comparisons - I left off Barbosa even though he shot more than Ulis but just slightly more. The league wide average among all PGs who played 500 minutes or more was 13.9 shots per 36 minutes - 0.2 less than Ulis.

I'll concede that he took shots I didn't like for him, namely 3 pointers.

I’m not using any stats. That’s my assumption. Could be wrong. But I recalled seeing a lot of double digit shooting nights with poor percentages and few double digit assist nights.

That's a good point. Stats don't tell the story of how and when a Point Guard helps, or hurts, his teammates or which ones he helps or hurts.

The same way that Shawn Marion led the team in rebounds as a Small Forward but, as an opportunity rebounder and with the game on the line, wasn't a rebounding force when it mattered most.

Same as Mark West, with the size of a Center, didn't help the team when he fouled out when he would have been most needed. Actually, that could be quantified.
